I began my career in healthcare when I was 16 years old, working in the dietary department for a small nursing facility in Southern Ohio. As soon as I turned 18 I applied for a job at the local hospital as an orderly. I was hired and worked about a year before going to school for my LPN. I was an LPN for several years before going back for my RN and then BSN. I am also Wound Care Certified and am a BLS Instructor.
I currently work as the Director for Apollo Wound Center in Brown County, Ohio, where I oversee the operation of our Free-Standing Wound Center. I also do a lot of outside education and consulting for the company; and have recently developed and submitted a Continuing Education Program specific to Wound Care.
Additionally I teach one day weekly for Beckfield College of Nursing, do many consulting gigs outside of Apollo, work PRN with a staffing agency, and am in the process of starting a new Home Health Agency.
I am currently attending Ohio University and plan to complete my Nurse Practitioner, continuing in Wound Care, but also possibly spread my wings a bit, reaching back into Critical Care and maybe even some Primary Care.
