Wow! So many comments from the last time I got a notification! Thank you to all of the current ABSN students giving us tips and advice. @theredqueen and @jacob17). If we don't wear the khakis during class, when will wear them? And the black shoes? I have not heard from fin aid. Does anyone know if there is a special form for the flu shot or is it just any documentation from a dr? Does anyone know when we should be expected to register for classes? I have so many questions and feel completely in the dark about how much we need to do before orientation!

I received my letter and it took a few days before I could access my e-mail. I think it took 48-72 hours for them to activate my email address.

I emailed the contact at WSSU and he said to put second degree applicant. Under intended major we put Accelerated BSN Option.

@wsorensen, you need to have a WSSU.edu email- so you need to have been accepted from general admissions first. I am not sure how long that process takes, but hopefully it is quick enough for us to get done by the 1st of Nov...

Is it okay to have snacks in my pockets for clinical?

I agree with PP, eating on the floor is not only prohibited for patient safety, but yours as well. Also, you won't want to eat anywhere other than designated areas-- they will most likely be cleaner (more free of contaminants, such as bodily fluids and other bacteria and germs). Eat a healthy meal before going to clinical if possible, and pack a "lunch" for while you are taking your break.

I did not get an e-mail, either. I don't think they send confirmations out. I sent my application "return receipt request" through the post office to make sure someone had to sign for my envelope- I wasn't taking any chances!

Thank you so much for the information, Elsie0! I have oh so many questions, but I will try to limit myself, considering that I am not even accepted into the program. When you say 3 day weekends, do you mean that we may have some weekends that are 3 days off-in a row? That's great for studying! I did notice that you mentioned some clinicals run Saturday and Sunday, so obviously those wouldn't be 3 day weekends, but it's encouraging to know that the program does give you time off during the week. From your response, it seems that there were on average 4 days a week where you need to attend school (clinicals/classes). Does Baptist have any ties to WSSU anymore, as far as scholarship/tuition reimburement/or monetary aid? Also, I did not see a place in the application for noting CNA experience or certification. I am a CNA and have about a year and a half of experience, but did not mark this on my application. Did anyone else note their certification or experience? Last question for the time being: was your Bachelor of Science in the medical field or biology? My BS and MS are not related to the medical field, but rather education. Just wondering if it is common for people who major in things other than medical/science related fields to get into the program- or at least from your cohort? Thanks again for answering my questions, it is great to have someone who is currently in the program to ask! :)

Elsie0: I am excited for mid-October letters to arrive, and like everyone else, I very much hope I get in! I would be interested to hear pretty much anything you have to say about the program... schedule? courses? clinicals? I am such a planner and not knowing is torture! I know you are probably busy, but any advice or information you have to share on the program would be so helpful and very much appreciated! Thanks :-)
