  1. Congrats on getting into a program! I'm entering my last nursing school (BSN) semester and want you to be encouraged. You can do this! Don't get overwhelmed, and always find time to study. Stay positive! My first-semester schedule was as follows: Mondays: 8-10 Health Assessment Lecture and 10-12 Health Assessment Lab Tuesdays: Clinical 6:30 am - 3 pm Wednesday: Nursing Skills Lab from 1 pm - 4 pm Thursday: 9-12 pm Nursing Fundamentals and 1-3 pm Population Focused Healthcare Friday: 9-12 pm Pathophysiology/Pharmacology I
  2. the first thing that comes to my mind is risk for bed sore formation and pain management. good luck!
  3. Exactly! They were required pre-reqs for every BSN program in my area.
  4. I start in two weeks and we have yet to get a schedule. Did you attend class five days a week? How was first semester?
  5. I went transient at another school and manage to take Physiology and Micro together. Get with your advisor to see what area universities and community colleges credit are transferrable and equivalent.
  6. A male nurse may have an advantage when it comes to the more labor intensive parts of nursing, but that's about it. Males and females are equal aside for men being stronger than some women. That would've been my response.
  7. I was recently accepted into a BSN at a pretty reputable school. Historically, the average GPA for those accepted into my program range from 3.80 to 4.0. My cum. GPA is 3.47 and my science GPA is a 3.48, but the thing about my program is that GPA wasn't all that influenced their decision. We also had to submit an essay and resume. OP, if you really want to get in I suggest you retake the classes and bring your GPA higher. I would also contact the director of the program as well. Good luck!
  8. I work as an OR tech now and want no parts of the OR as a RN. The nurses in my OR mostly chart/circulate or will occasionally scrub. I'd rather do SICU, CICU, or TBICU initially then maybe get into nurse anesthesia or go into the OR as a First Assist.
  9. I have a MDF Dual Headed Sprague Rappaport Stethoscope. All other clinical supplies will be supplied by the program.
  10. I got into a BSN program, and I can't wait! Classes start August 24! Spring 2017 can't get here fast enough! First semester will be a doozy! Six classes...two of which are labs and one clinical! Congrats to everyone!
  11. I received my acceptance letter in the mail yesterday! I'm turning down admission because I got into the BSN program at UAB! Good luck to the rest of you!
  12. The secretary told me that it would be late June/early July when letters would be sent out.
