  1. I don't want to clean poop

Not true. There is no comparison to encountering body fluids in psych vs hospital/nursing home work. Once in a while you have to deal with body fluids in psych - rarely BM! In hospital and nursing homes - it is a daily occurrence.
  2. I don't want to clean poop

Well, bless you! Sorry, but I do not have time to do custodial work. I would immediately have a CNA come in and clean the pt if I were in a nursing home environment.
  3. I don't want to clean poop

Maybe YOU get used to it. I never did and I never could. Nor would I ever want to! If you want to catch people's diarrhea in your hands, you go for it! There are those of us who choose to do other kinds of work.
  4. I don't want to clean poop

VERY RARELY does anything like this happen to NPs. But RNs clean up #2 on a regular basis in bedside care.
  5. I don't want to clean poop

What kind of Nurse Practitioner are you? I have never heard this from any other Nurse Practitioner. The market is such that NPs are in demand everywhere. It is NOT worse in psych.
  6. I don't want to clean poop

It's not a matter of thinking you're "too good" or not. Some people just can't stand cleaning up #2 and there is nothing wrong with that! I am one of those people, too. It has nothing to do with thinking I am "too good" or better than anyone one else...
  7. I don't want to clean poop

I agree with your sister. And, as an aside, there are plenty of nursing jobs where even RNs don't have to clean up people's #2. And there is not that much of this in nursing school. Not only are nurse practitioners treated with much more respect t...
  8. Can you extend this date? I just saw this.
  9. An open letter to the #NursesUnite movement

I discussed the archaic use of the time clock. Nurses want to be seen as professionals - professionals DO NOT punch a time clock. I did not say anyone need be "exempt." You simply keep track of your own time, as any adult is expected to do. Time cloc...
  10. An open letter to the #NursesUnite movement

You hated every minute of being a nurse but you did it for 35 years?? Why?!
  11. Nursing Article Contest Summer 2015: Win $150!!

Can you extend the time allowed to submit an article? I just saw this on here today>
  12. An open letter to the #NursesUnite movement

By posting your letter, you are doing much more than you are probably aware. It is NOT you who is the problem - your letter is simply the truth that many other nurses are in denial about; e.g., Ruby Vee up there who continues to blame you and others ...
  13. I was bullied out of my job

Nurse Beth, Sounds like it might be wise for you to read more research on bullying, psychological violence, etc., because your answer clearly shows your lack of knowledge on this topic. Read Gary Namie's work at: workplacebullying.org
  14. Hospitals Firing Seasoned Nurses: Nurses FIGHT Back!

I wish you would have gotten an MBA. They need people like you to change things.
  15. Why do nurses get treated like crap? Is it everywhere?

    This makes no sense what-so-ever.
  16. Why do nurses get treated like crap? Is it everywhere?

Females are not submissive by nature. Many are culturally trained to be second fiddle. It is NOT innate. Males are not dominant by nature. It is culturally drummed into them from birth.
