    The only thing I've received is the original email confirming that they received my application. According to their timeline we should probably start receiving invites sometime in August.

    As for the in progress classes, you can definitely apply with classes in progress. The more you have the better off you are but I've confirmed that with the counselor in Sacramento several times....
