  1. Send them a cake with your decline decorated on it.
  2. Job abandonment-CNA

This is actually why CNA's have a better defense against patient abandonment than nurses. I'll create a fictional facility for an example. Facility A is composed of 3 units of 40 patients for a total of 120 residing within the facility. Each unit is ...
  3. Job abandonment-CNA

This isn't high school. Disrespect towards you is NEVER a valid reason to leave work without permission. Now, it is rare that a CNA is ever found guilty of abandonment. There are a lot of valid defenses you can raise here and they all boil down ...
  4. Refusing..... Eye drops??

    That is why I posted.
  5. Refusing..... Eye drops??

This is the standard for a licensed nurse. I don't think an unlicensed med tech is going to be held to that standard. I certainly wouldn't expect that of a med tech. Bonus if they know though.
  6. How old is too old to safely practice?

Anyone who answers with an actual number is probably looking at the lowest common denominator. Not a good approach since the vast majority are above the lowest common denominator. That would be unfortunate if someone who is perfectly capable at 70 is...
  7. Is charting coming before patient care these days?

It is common knowledge that charting is a lot more important than the actual patient care that occurs.
  8. How do you not feel like an imposter?

    I am "that colleague."
  9. Doctor stole my stethoscope

Not in every circumstance. It is possible for the doctor to be contracted (see: agency).
  10. got fired/terminated

I've seen this story told so many times on here where a personality mismatch with a preceptor has cost someone his or her job. The solution is ever so simple: kiss your preceptor's ass until you are free of his or her grasp. So many new graduates lea...
  11. Commuting an hour to work

An hour commute is nothing. If it's the cost of working in your ideal setting, go for it. Better than a shorter commute and another 8-12 hours in hell.
  12. What sort of physical labour do nurses do?

Work in a setting where you don't have to lift patients. Not every nurse has to lift patients. The last time I lifted a patient was years ago.
  13. Students and Facebook

People nowadays are stupid with social media. Don't become involved. Being a **** disturber doesn't help things. Let the stupid be stupid and Darwin will eventually get them.
  14. Meals on demand

I leave the healthy eating for home. When I am at work or in class, I pig out. And my god-like metabolism lets me get away with it! With Pokemon Go! out there, you can pig out as well and burn the calories off by hunting down those Pokemon.
  15. Misusing the low paid nurse

Perfectly legal and super standard. If you are a competent LPN, this should not be a problem for you.
  16. When will I know I'm investigated?

Do not post any information related to the situation here. Do not make a statement to the BON and only speak with the BON with your lawyer present. And if I haven't made it clear, lawyer up.
  17. Nurses and CNAs

Complain to management and have those defective droids replaced.
  18. What's The Best Way to Quit My Job

Send in a cake with your resignation decorated over the cake. Oops... completely missed this. It seems the cake resignation will be the new norm for nurses.
  19. Is money everything in this profession?

Doctors do this all day everyday. Those nurses are only looking for their share of the pie.
  20. Do you overspend on luxury items as a nurse?

I bought my girlfriend red bottoms earlier this month. Looking over previous posts, please don't look into my garage. Most of you will be depressed.
  21. I know it's horrible to live off loans but...

Enjoy the free ride and move abroad. Don't communicate where you intend to go to anyone and you won't have to worry about those loans. Search for "debt fugitives." Lots of people enjoy a free ride and then move abroad intending to not pay anything ba...
  22. Floating isn't desirable. It is the "I need a job, so I'll take anything" position. It is a nice way to build your hours up and transition into something else at the same facility. A perk of that is having seen a bunch of different positions through ...
  23. Is money everything in this profession?

I entered this profession because I understood that it paid well and employment was never going to be an issue. Pay is very important to me because I want to be well off. If you don't care about the money, that's fine. I only ask that you send any di...
  24. Getting into Nursing school with a misdemeanor

Whether those tickets are paid or not is irrelevant. They wouldn't be worthy of a second look.
  25. First nurse job 1.5hour commute

The alternative to not being willing to commute is to not accept the job. If you don't accept the job, you don't have to deal with the commute. It sounds like the demand for nurses is very low in your area. If you pass this up, who knows when you mig...
