Prescriptive Authority
Thank you 203bravo. That is what I am trying to clarify. I was thinking PA was site specific, but just wasn't sure. When I received a few responses saying " you don't have PA ", I kept thinking, well don't you have a physician on board to have an agreement with????

Prescriptive Authority
Thank you for your responses. I clarified with the BON that clinical hours obtained in school would count for those 500 hours. I originally thought the same thing about having to practice first.

Prescriptive Authority
Good morning, I am a new grad in Louisiana, and I have been turned down from several jobs, because I don't have prescriptive authority. I understand that I need a collaborative agreement with a physician in order to be granted PA, but am I supposed to take an add out on craigslist? Perhaps go to a dating site and say I am seeking friendship and PA privileges..nothing serious, lol. I am confused about how I am supposed to get PA, if I haven't worked yet. Also, if I get a job with a physician and get PA, if I leave that position, do I lose my PA? When I apply to other jobs, I won't have it again? Any insight would appreciated. ??

Question about acute dialysis schedule??
Thanks for responding. I'm just trying to get a general idea of how other acute nurses work. Couldn't imagine everyone working everyday " until ".....

Question about acute dialysis schedule??
This is a question for any acute dialysis nurses out there. How are your weekly schedules? I've been with a company for 4 months doing acute dialysis, and the way the schedule runs is that you show up everyday and run whatever patients are there at the hospital. Sundays are on call days, in which you usually get called in. I don't have any off days. I'm averaging 65+ hours a week with no time off, and I am practically burned out. Now, I will admit that part of the problem is that it's only a 4 bed dialysis unit for a 180-bed hospital. Unfortunately, we can't run large groups of patients, and it's a very busy unit. However, I'm not understanding the come everyday mentality. I can't schedule anything outside of work, because I have to always be at work. I can't look forward to having a day off, because I'm supposed to show up everyday. This can't be how the average acute unit runs. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. TY

Charity School of Nursing Uniforms
They do require a certain style for their uniforms. There was a flyer that came in the mail that offered 10% off of the uniforms to all of the ppl accepted into their nursing program. Check with the school itself for info.
