  1. So is it best to wait until she is here and has a SSN before taking it?
  2. Thank you for the feedback! Yes, she will be coming to CA so we wanted to make sure that she doesn't have to retest again if taken in India.
  3. Hi all, My spouse completed her BSN in India and we are unsure if she should take the NCLEX RN in India or should she wait until she gets a Visa to come to the U.S. and then take it here in California. If she takes it there, does she have to retest again once here in California? Any information on this would be greatly appreciated!
  4. Hi All, So I'm in the LA county area in southern CA and was wondering as a new grad RN in his mid twenties, what sort of job should I be aiming for? One thing that concerns me is benefits. I've heard a county job has great benefits and VA hospitals also provide very good benefits. Are these the hospitals I should be aiming for versus private hospitals where the pay may be higher? Also what sort of benefits do County and VA jobs provide that others dont?
  5. I am a bit confused on the different options of MSN programs. I am still working on getting my BSN but I have noticed that for the MSN degree, certain schools offer different paths. For example, WGU offers an MSN in nursing education. If one wants to be a practitioner AND teach, does one have to get 2 master degrees from schools that offer FNP programs? Also I have read about post master degree and other specialties such as PMNPT nurses. Will those require more education?
  6. Got it. So for example, University of Phoenix which has campuses in California as well as it's original headquarters in Arizona, is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission(HLC) which includes Arizona as one of the states included in HLC accreditation so it all checks out.
  7. I completely agree! Does it matter what sort of regional accreditation the school has? If I'm in California, does the school have to be regionally accredited through WASC or any regional accreditation would suffice such as HLC?
  8. Hi all How exactly does accreditation work? I mean when it comes to BSN programs, I know I am looking for a CCNE accredited program which is at a national level but what is regional accreditation and how is it important? I reside in Southern CA. If I go to a school that is accredited regionally by the Higher Learning Commission, does that affect my education/job prospects in any way and does it matter what regional accreditation it is?
  9. Rob my friend, you and I are the same. I had one school that I focused on to get into when I was doing my prereqs and after getting all A's on my courses, I applied to the school and got in! It was a 1 year LVN to RN program so I knew it was going to be tough. First day, there was so much info and paperwork and homework given, I immediately felt like giving up. I eventually did BUT it was because I shouldn't have done the 1 year course. I got accepted into another program and am starting next month. No holding back, taking it a week or even a day at a time. That is the best way to get through it. Also, study hard and enjoy it. In the end it will all be worth it. Good luck Brah!
  10. I agree. I should definitely focus on getting my ADN and then BSN first. I really would like to get experience before making the MSN decision. Thanks!
  11. Hi Everyone! I have been thinking lately of further career plans for my nursing journey but am confused as to what route to take. I reside in Southern CA, LA area. I am going to begin an ADN program next month in the local community college. There is a collaboration with University of Phoenix that the college has to obtain a BSN after the ADN in 6-12 months. I eventually want to get an MSN, just unsure of what specialty but I am leaning towards Nurse Educator. There are many RN to MSN programs out there today so should I get my BSN and then go back to school for MSN or just get them both together? I feel I would need years of experience before I go back for a Masters. Furthermore, what schools do you all recommend for either route? Any say on UOP? Also the collaboration with UOP is about 14K total. Is this too much?! Thanks!
  12. @NursingCakes yes you can just write the semester and year for date completed and yes just turn in the official transcripts to pierce along with application all in one envelope.
  13. Got the call on Monday the 13th.
  14. Due date is December 21st. Good luck!
  15. Good luck to all that are applying to County! This school is incredible intense and challenging but definitely a great school with a great reputation.
