  1. Finding a radial pulse when you have carpal tunnel

I would call the testing place, anonymously, and ask what accommodations could be made and what you would need to do to qualify. Good luck.
  2. CNA License

To verify whether an individual is a certified nurse aide in Michigan contact the Michigan Nurse Aide Registry at 800-748-0252 or via the Prometric website at http://www.prometric.com/NurseAide/MI.htm.
  3. I was accepted to Brandman, but...

In order to be approved as an educational program in Minnesota, all instructors must be licensed in Minnesota. It's a requirement for Minnesota schools. If you go to a school in another state, the school has to abide by that state's requirements. Or...
  4. Professors fail everyone?

You are four percentage points from passing? On my school's grading scale, that's half the distance between two grades. If a 92% is the lowest A and 85% is the lowest B, would you ever try to convince your instructor you should get that A, if you h...
  5. Textbooks for first semester of MANE program

Do not rent! You will use that bundle for all three semesters of the ASN program. I thought they would also be used for the BSN program, but someone else on here said that wasn't the case. Either way, 3 or 6 semesters of renting probably doesn't m...
  6. I know "it's not a race", but...

You might not need to "waste" a semester if you take it slow. I'm in nursing school now (ADN). Each semester is 11-12 credits of nursing classes and 3-4 credits of non-nursing (psychology, sociology, English, etc.) I took all those non-nursing class...
  7. Rasmussen, Herzing, or Century?

I would retake the TEAS. If you get a 75 on the TEAS, you have a good shot of getting in to Century. The cost difference is HUGE between Century and a for-profit like Herzing or Rasmussen. I pay about $2500/semester at another MANE school.
  8. Medical terms

Medical terminology is much like learning a new language. You already use roots, suffixes and prefixes, but in "regular" English so you probably don't even think about it or realize it. That "not thinking about it" will eventually come with medical w...
  9. Agency offer New Grad position if I pay $4000

I would not be at all surprised if you get canned from this so-called job. I know you are desperate, but at least try to google the name of this company and contact the BBB to see if there has been complaints. If your school has a career center, ask...
  10. Assessments

The ADN program I attend focuses almost exclusively on assessments -- mind, body, spirit -- in the first semester. I don't even know basic CNA tasks yet.
  11. Pantoprazole suspension

Good point! That's a great question. I found this: https://www.pharmqd.com/forum/topic/protonix-why-apple-sauce-or-apple-juice But that poster didn't mention where he got that information so I searched some more. The quote is (basically) from the pa...
  12. Pantoprazole suspension

I googled. It has to do with the low pH of the apple sauce/juice. The particles are activated at neutral pHs, like water, so the low pH of applesauce/juice allows them to safely make it into the stomach.
  13. Research Nursing

Can anyone give me advice on getting my foot in the door in research nursing? I am in my third semester of a five semester ADN program. I can opt out at that point, or proceed to complete by BSN. I can take the NCLEX in early 2016. I also have a BS ...
  14. Forgot to mark med on diabetic chart- thoughts?

When in doubt, call your instructor.
  15. Is this choice the correct one?

You should talk to a counselor at your school. I fear you are not going about your goals in the most efficient (cheapest and least amount of time). What program did you study for your Associates? Can you translate that into a job? If you want to be...
  16. I want to quit pre-nursing for social work!

Here's an idea: switch to social work! Social work has low pay and high stress. It can be a very difficult, demanding and stressful career, but that doesn't mean it's not right for you. I suggest you talk to as many nurses and social workers as yo...
  17. Grading scale

    A - 92-100 B - 85-91 C - 78-84 Anything below a 78 is failing.
  18. I need some hardcore advice.

There are a lot of schools and a lot of paths to becoming an RN. I just started an ASN program in August. My GPA was a 2.6. If it's truly what you want, talk to every admission counselor within a reasonable distance from you and make a plan
  19. Rasmussen or not?

Metro State cost per credit is $286.25 per credit (nursing) and $221.40 per credit for general undergrad, including $10.43 per credit fees. According to the curriculum plan, the MANE BSN is 30 nursing credits, or $$286.25 * 30 = $8,587.50. Plus 16 n...
  20. Attorney to Nurse Career

There is actually another lawyer in my class of 32. You are not alone!
  21. Is this worth my time?

Perhaps a LPN/LVN program would be better suited for you. A MA, at least as I understand, is a different beast than a nurse. If you become a MA, few, if any, of your credits would transfer to a RN program, if you decide to go down that route. On the...

  23. Managing money and student loans

Have you looked at loan consolidation? Depending on many different factors, you can lower your payment by extending the repayment period. You will pay more (more interest over life of the loan) but the monthly payments may be more manageable.
  24. Nursing to Law School

I would recommend you do some research before you enroll in law school. 1. Unemployment rates for lawyers is pretty high. We have a huge glut of lawyers and no jobs. 2. There is a bimodal salary distribution. The very top of the very top will start...
  25. Is This Bullying?

Does anyone have a jello study guide they can send me? I start nursing school next week and I want to make sure I'm prepared. ?
