  1. Yes, I remember the days working at a LTC. There was so much work to do and there was no time to do it all. I know what you are talking about. A doctor's office, home health, or maybe a prison/jail setting might be a slower pace.
  2. I heard that from 2004 to 2014, many schools in California opened up to train people to become LVNs/LPNs. I read the statistics and there are three times more LVN/LPN schools today in California since 2004. I feel the effect today. I applied for many open LVN/LPN positions and there has been zero callbacks for an interview. Back in 2006-2007, it was quite easy for me to find a job within a month and to get interviews.
  3. Yes it is an excuse. My coworkers, after 7 years working for the company without a raise is a red flag. Maybe the employer is showing them to the door or the system is set up that way in my state. They did not even get a 5 cent raise. A person should seek options elsewhere if this happens to them. That is very reasonable and people should agree.
  4. I can guess that my state has a system that will favor the employer. It could be lies or it could be true but it is a business and profits are more important. I found this review in the internet while I was researching LVN/LPN home health agencies. It is the state I live in and the agency that I was interested in applying to: "Its a nursing agency staffing home health so therefore it is mostly medicaid patients. Medicaid has not raised the rate for nurses in close to 20 years so nurses have not gotten a raise in that amount of time. This problem will be found at all agencies and is not exclusive."
  5. My coworkers all explained to the agency what they did and had very good reviews. The agency is making a lot of money already and not in the red since they are expanding and buying out other places.
  6. Can you ask to see if the did or not? I am really thinking about this other agency that I want to work for. I am just concerned that if I go there, it would be the same situation where the LVN/LPN will never ever get a raise.
  7. That sounds familiar as my coworker experienced the same situation you did in being ignored after a good review. How did you view the employer after they denied your raise? Will you stay at the company or move on?
  8. Would you look for another job or agency if there were no pay raises in the last seven years? Please advise.
  9. My coworkers told me that they never got a raise and they have been working at the agency for 7 or more years! Please advise.
  10. I have heard that if you are a LVN/LPN and you work for an agency, you will never get a pay raise? Is this true? Several people told me this. Please advise.
