Hi mefPNW - I'm also very nervous about expenses! I'm in quite a bit of debt already but I think I've made up my mind and I'm going to go for it. Does anyone else have a Masters? Or two previous...
Also don't listen to online sites (Google) or people who lived in Boston 10-15 years ago about what areas are safe/not safe. The cheaper areas sometimes have a bad reputation but are very different...
@lagirl - it really depends on what you're okay with. Roommates, no roommates etc...I'm engaged so I have a built in room mate. We keep our budget at around 700 a piece...and its tight to find spots....
Chelsea is your best bet for cheap and still somewhat convenient to charlestown...Melrose is on the orange line and tends to be a bit cheaper sometimes since its up north
Yeah I second that. Rent is crazy out here and it keeps going up and up. It isn't abnormal to see one beds for 2200 even. Somerville is actually going up now because of the future extension of the...
@NEL12 - I love UMass Amherst! If I did the ASN route I was going to do their RN to BSN. So many people from the west coast! I'd never leave if I lived out
I have a Bachelors in health sciences and a masters in health promotion and disease prevention. Not sure if I'm 100% attending either. Weighing the financial return on investment
yeah, it should be easy for you to shop in chinatown if you live on the Orange Line...its right when you get off the chinatown stop and is very walkable. Not sure about a koreantown but others might...
I don't really know of anyone who shares a car with another...but some people do share a ZipCar membership, especially if they have the same clinical sites. I'm under the impression that most...
Most places are pretty safe. The neighborhoods are constantly getting more and more expensive and more students and young professionals are moving in. In the past mission hill may not have been safe,...
You do not need a car! I sold my Jeep when I moved here a few years ago. The more affordable areas within Boston rent wise seem to have very high car insurance rates. Depends on where you're coming...
If anyone has questions about neighborhoods feel free to private message me. Depends on your budget, but there are a lot of nice areas out this way! I currently live in Mission Hill (very student...
I'm fairly certain that you work one on one with a nurse, so yes. I'd check on that though because I've applid to so many places that I could be mixing it
Yeah, it definitely has a fantastic reputation and trains you well. Your clinicals are at some of the best hospitals in the country, so that is a plus. Lots of people make connections at clinicals...
It was originally founded by MGH but is now an independent affiliate. That being said, you still get an awesome education that comes with the name of a top hospital nationwide. Worth it?
Just keep in mind, the school is not MGH itself...they are not affiliated. They may have an agreement for some clinical rotations and still live up to the MGH name, but are not the same
I work for mgh currently (1.5 yrs) but can't really speak for them. The institution itself is not truely affiliated but from what I hear, many of your clinicals, if not all are within MGH. Its up to...
