Besides the point brought up by Neuro Guy, I feel you are asking the wrong question. What do YOU want to be in the future. Do you want to be an FNP and manage primary care issues and management of chronic issues, working 8-10hrs (scheduled) 4-5 ti...
I will echo what fullglass mentioned.. if you are set on going to a state such as California. Go ahead and start that application now (against what I recommended before), it is my belief that states like California do not pay much mind to applicants ...
I did this exact thing. I applied to only a few in state jobs, but mainly applied out of state. 1. do not obtain licensure in any state until job offer. I had companies inquire about my application status and I told them flatly that I will be a...
What in the world is your instructor talking about? Perhaps I am the confused one. I have a NP license in three separate states. It was as hard to get as it is to apply and supply the proper documentation for each (read: not hard).
Not sure exactly what information you are seeking but that sounds about right. I would just follow the board of nursing for that state. I have three active NP licenses and they all require the base RN license.
Don’t accept any position that you don’t see yourself fully enjoying; time is too short in life. I turned down my first job offer a year ago after they were unwilling to offer me a reasonable pay rate. No regrets.
Why work in an environment that lets you be worried about such trivial matters? I work with a lot of sensitive “write up happy” sallies. Never once have I worried about the chance of being reported. I said as much before, but your choices are to con...
Jeez. Just get a new job, start applying. If you are unhappy with your current situation then why stay or seek approval from anonymous individuals online to tell you how to live your life? Your work environment sounds very high school. Have you br...

Ensure you are practicing to your trained scope while walking the hospital halls. Additionally, did your schooling not cover malpractice insurance and the types of available coverage?

Don’t make the mistake of being married with children and a DNP with no clinical experience. Lets take a look into the future: You will lack experience for the acute care NP role you want, any hospital NP interview as a new grad will focus on your b...
5 years bedside ICU in trauma 1 hospital. Charge, precept, additionally floated and covered rapid response for many shifts. I did this while in school. My transition has been smooth.
Also not sure where I’ve gained this knowledge.. but I believe the cut off is puberty. Once the child shows signs of puberty then as an AGACNP I can legally see them, which is roughly the 11-13 year old range. Not sure where I gained that tidbit of ...
I looked into it briefly years ago. I felt like once an NP you could sit for the test without taking a 9mo course or OR experience. But I might be delusional.
No direct knowledge in the “how.” One of my preceptors (Burn service) would see patients in the unit/floor, have outpatient clinic across the street, eat, then go to the OR and assist with debridements, STSG, etc. I believe she had first assist cert...

20 versus 5 years as a bedside RN.. no real difference. Perhaps the longer at bedside will leave you privy to more exposure but how that’ll effect your practice as an NP... who knows. I believe there’s is research that shows RNs with no bedside expe...
Was something I briefly considered as a new grad. I do not think it would be ideal, perhaps consider locums once you are comfortable in your new position. Barton associates is a locums site that I believe does place new grads. But again, just becaus...
Anyone with experience doing locums as an acute care NP? I’ve read some information on other sites and peeked at some agencies. Many of the positions appear to be outpatient. Anyone doing locums in a hospital setting (critical care is my experience) ...
Barton associates was one that was mentioned by my school and they even came to talk to us. Not sure ? of their quality, the idea that they were pitching locum work for soon to be new grads seemed like a bad idea in general. Ive yet to find anything ...
Sounds like proper consent was not obtained per hospital policy. I think that you have two concerns here. 1. Witnessing a consent that you did not “hear” the provider consent family over the phone. It may vary by state but where I am from when I was...

1. I am part of the surgical critical care team at an academic center, no prior personal experience for comparison. At my prior job in a Trauma 1 teaching hospital the nurse practitioner role seemed more so focused on assessment/plan with little proc...
I was in theory able to take my boards prior to finishing the last semester of my program (B&M school). But it was a pure oversight in the credentialing boards side. Others in my class received and email to resend transcripts once the final semes...
