Learn and let it go. Western culture puts so much emphasis on success, that we start to see every failure as catastrophic. It's not. Your patient had to be sent out, but it's not the end of their world, much less yours. If you continue to "what if" ...

My cohort only lost one student permanently, and it was the first week of class. We did lose a few more to real life or grades, but they were allowed to rejoin the next time the class they needed was offered. In the end, if you made it past the first...
It may take longer to get the BSN if you do the ADN to BSN route, but you get to spend some of that extra time actually working as a nurse. I personally loved my ADN program, and wouldn't go back and change from ADN to BSN, even if I had that chance.
I started back to school with little to no college at 32. I just graduated at 36. The youngest person in my cohort was 23 when she started and was younger by a few years compared to the next youngest. I think you'll be fine age-wise. To be quite trut...
I'd wish you good luck, but luck doesn't get you through NCLEX, just critical thinking. It sounds like you'll do better this time. You found the issue, implemented to that, and are evaluating your results. Sounds just like a Kaplan course, doesn't it...
It's certainly very different now. I had a professor who told me about her state boards exam, having to rent a hotel room with classmates because it was in another city. Tech advances really do spoil us to some extent. They can also hinder us too, bu...
True. I took a lot of comfort in knowing my school has superb pass rates. They must be doing something right. It's not an end all be all of course, but it sat a really good base.
NCLEX RN Mastery. Also check out Nurse Superhero on facebook. It's super similar to the mastery app for their app, but larger question bank. It is still pretty new, so not familiar enough to recommend it, but it looks good.
Thanks, Luna. Still waiting for the BoN to get my transcripts to make it official but I did start my training at my hospital this week. I know that most new grads have the shiny eyed happy at first, but I really love it there. I can't wait to be able...
At least in my state, you can register before. It will not give you an actual time until the school informs the local boards you completed your program, at which point they send out your Authorization to Test (ATT). Then you can go back to your regis...
I'm still waiting on my transcripts to go through to the nursing commission, I just graduated less than two weeks ago. I am just doing onboarding/training until it's official, but I won't complain about having a job somewhere I feel happy at, in a sp...

I don't really agree that NPs have a smaller knowledge base. It's a different knowledge base. Different doesn't mean inferior. Let's compare education of two of my friends. One friend is a new MD, one is a new DNP, both graduated around the same time...
I'm going to go with 3.5 myself. Anything high enough for you to have honors of some sort will make you stand out over other applicants. Perhaps wishful thinking though. I barely scrapped through with a 3.5
I just graduated with my ADN... I'm still waiting to take my NCLEX, so my opinion comes with a grain of salt. Have a job waiting for me when I pass in psych. I'm already planning more schooling. Not because I want a graduate degree, but because I jus...
What's your school's pass rate like? If it's higher than the national average, they must be doing something right, and I would totally go for it either way. Any practice is better than none.

Seattle job market is getting better, but it can still be tough for a new grad. Not being local could make it harder if you don't know anyone to network with. That said, there are jobs that are more than willing to take new grads and having a BSN wil...
Your best bet is to talk to an admissions advisor for the school you're applying to. Here where I live, most programs require either you take the NAC at a college, you've passed the state exam, higher/equal license, or medical experience. It's going...

My roommate did this a lot. He stopped when I told him I was going to start practicing all my skills on him for class. He still let me practice on him.
