  4. Does anyone really use the care plan?

We are mandated to have one on the patient's chart. I think that we do use them, but it is almost subconscious. As a student, we all had to seriously think our way through an assessment...neuro...we...
  5. Worth It?

I wouldn't be thrilled to work as an aide either. That's why I went to school. Maybe OP wasn't thrilled with the pay, or has limited choices of where to work as an

  15. YOU talk to the CNA first. If the behavior continues then you go up the chain of command. Trust me, if someone is behaving negatively, it doesn't go unnoticed. Quite often (where I work anyway)...

I've heard this before. I always wondered why I wasn't bombarded. THANKS for the answer! They don't trust me.
  17. My Immediate Supervisor wants me gone!

I have met someone like this before. EVERY time a new hire joins our team this person treats them pretty much as you've described. Once the new employee has finished orientation and gets a routine,...
  18. I'm so sad...sorry this is really long

What a shame your family wouldn't be more supportive. Seems you've taken the right step with daycare. I wouldn't "write off" the step mom, but if she ever requests to see your children, make it...
  19. Patients always needing something no matter what.

I personally don't know anyone that doesn't like something about his/her job. Maybe the entire world should change jobs if they c/o anything about
  20. Patients always needing something no matter what.

It seems to me, that where I work anyway, from about late October until early April I cannot make "rounds". When I go in, I start my assessments...and nothing but chaos ensues for me, my shift...
  21. Patients always needing something no matter what.

We keep getting inservices on "customer service" and we are supposed to look them in the eye and help them, or at the very least acknowledge them and tell them we can help them "in a minute". We are...
  22. Patients always needing something no matter what.

I totally understand that. What I'd like to know is...how do you explain such things to visitors, family, AND patients..tactfully? It seems more often than not, when I have serious patient issues and...
