  1. Please Help me...

I think the Pre-Nursing section would be of better help to you.
  2. Please Help me...

Wait, aren't LPNs not allowed to teach and educate patients? I'm pretty sure this is the RNs job. But if it's just something to do, I would ask one of your parents to write down their daily eating and exercise habits for you to work with. If they eat...
  3. How many men in your cohort?

4 or 5 out of 30. One of them may have failed out during the summer session, I'll find out whose left in September.
  4. At my community college, the pre-requisite classes for nursing fill up rapidly so you'd have to try to enter early on (about a month ago for the Fall semester). You can try to get in when people drop the classes in the beginning of the semester. If n...
  5. men in pediatrics:) thoughts?

That's a good thing. Anyhow, what I posted was just for discussion value. Best wishes for your future hrawlins!
  6. The imagery is just great isn't it? "The attending nurse from the IMCU walks to the room, weeping. She reaches into her purse and pulls out a small plastic spray bottle from Bath and Body floral body spray and attempts to try to cover up the horrible ...
  7. ATI

That's terrible! My class requires it but the professors went out of their way to get us a discount. We pay $225 before Fall and $225 before spring. Yours should probably look into that next time around.
  8. men in pediatrics:) thoughts?

I wish to also play Devil's Advocate. In general, parents these days seem to assume men are inherently pedophiles. In the profession of teaching; a single accusation, even proven false, is a permanent black mark on that male teacher and can and usual...
  9. I think I have something that's far worse than anything here. Not my own experience, friend sent me this a month or two ago. Warning: Language, horrible imagery. An experience I wouldn't wish upon anyone, and you can start reading with the green line...
  10. Summer/Fall 2013 LPN class updates and how's it going

I feel so lucky to only have to get 2-3 books per semester which are very well utilized. My wallet is also thankful. @A2BGreat, best wishes on successful grades. There's a certain sort of feeling of satisfaction when you start off strong in the prog...
  11. August 2013 Caption Contest: Win $100!

"Wait, didn't you just tell me yesterday that you were too weak to help us lift that bariatric patient?" "I hope you made enough for everyone. The cows went on strike."
  12. Funny last option. I can just imagine someone being handed a license and saying "I didn't ask for this." But more realistically, probably just one of those people who thought entering nursing guaranteed them a well-paying job with benefits. Personall...
  13. August 2013 Caption Contest: Win $100!

"No, drinking 100 cups of coffee will not stop time for your med pass. I don't care what you saw on TV." (futurama reference)
  14. What's the funniest most unusual baby name?

That actually isn't a bad name, but I would be the jerk who always comments "that is SO Raven" whenever she does anything.
  15. What's the funniest most unusual baby name?

That name sounds like it came straight out of Skyrim. It actually sounds pretty epic. Worst name I ever heard of was Sha'dynasty. Pronounced "Sha-Dynasty" but often mispronounced as "Shady Nasty".
  16. Does anyone else feel pressure to get your RN?

I'm not even half-way through school and I'm pressured by parents to go further. So much negativity out of my mom towards LPNs and I'm not even sure she can explain what's different beyond the length of their programs. But still I plan to go back to...
  17. They usually only count the pre-requisite courses. I cannot come to an answer regarding odds of acceptance. But if your GPA improves when you recalculate with only the relevant prerequisites, it would be worth considering. At my particular school, a...
  18. Stethoscopes

The littmann classic SE is also good (at a more reasonable price). I didn't want to get the best thing available because of all the "borrowing" I've been hearing about on this site. Just make sure you wear it the right way, it took me forever to real...
  19. As for math you should know things like converting units (grams, mg), converting temperatures from Celsius to Farenheit (F=1.8C+32), converting inches to centimeters (2.5 cm per inch). You need to learn conversions between standard and military time....
  20. Summer/Fall 2013 LPN class updates and how's it going

Nice of you to ask. :) My experience has been great so far. I've completed the summer session courses and am resuming the program this fall. I have my first clinicals then as well. Just trying to keep my grades up there and learn as much as I can. Re...
  21. Class is getting unbearable

Pay little attention to them, the only thing that matters is your graduation and licensing. Networking can be a good thing, but you should just ignore people who are unable to act maturely. Hopefully their gossip will come to bite them in the butt wi...
  22. supplies needed for lpn school

You may find them in abundance, but it's always good to keep extra gloves and alcohol swabs with you.
  23. I DID IT! I'M DONE!

I'd like to meet the instructor who puts down a student who achieves A and B grades... Seriously, isn't it their job to educate and encourage? Anyhow, keep turning that negativity into greatness. Remember, you did this. You studied, you applied yours...
  24. Starting nursing school in August & I'm scared 😱

First off, CALM DOWN. Second, I don't think they'd accept you into their program if they didn't feel it was within your capability. In my LPN program, we went over study techniques and such in the beginning. I personally didn't need it, but you prob...
  25. How Many people did your program start out with?

Started off 30. As far as I'm aware, only 1 person dropped. I noticed people failed some of their first courses which is unfortunate but I know they will try and do better. Though these were fluff courses, I'm afraid some will be failed out when we g...
