I get annoyed when professors spend half the class talking about their spouses, children, grandchildren, hobbies, etc. Religion would fall into that same category of wasted time when they should be spending teaching content that I will be responsible for knowing.

Georgia's nursing programs' pass rates for NCLEX are public record and readily available. I am sure that is the same for all nursing schools everywhere. I would suggest taking that into account when applying to nursing school. If your school falls into a category where it is lower than you think it should be (or lower than you think will allow you to be successful when taking the exam), then you know you will have to pick up the slack to learn information on your own to pass the test regardless of where you take it.

Look for moisture-wicking tanks, t-shirts, shorts, and even underwear like the athletes wear.

Something to consider is becoming a nurse but not letting your teaching license lapse. You can always go back and add-on the health occupations/healthcare science (whatever NY calls it) certification and teach the nursing classes to students in your state if you decide to go back to teaching later on. Otherwise, it would be a little harder to renew your teaching certificate once it lapses.

How many people go to the "doctor" and routinely see a NP or PA for their care, though? How many of those people actually think they are actually seeing a physician? It can get confusing, but if you earned the degree, it's acceptable to use the title.

Thank you notes and handwritten notes/cards are a lost art period. I think it is a thoughtful gesture.

Maybe there's an attorney who could give you a free consult. Some do, and some don't. Contact your state and/or national professional organization, if you are a member, and see if they have anyone to recommend.

I have never even heard of Georgian Court University, although that doesn't mean it is not a good school. I did just look at the website for about two seconds, and it said it's strong point is liberal arts. Just check to make sure it is accredited through all of the right channels before you invest a lot of time and money there. Personally, if I had a choice between the two, I would take Emory in a heartbeat. At the end of the road, they both will say BSN or whatever degree you will receive and you will take the same NCLEX as everyone else, but the HR departments might look a little more favorably on a degree from Emory.

I agree with the others about going to someone on campus, maybe the counseling center, which I think most campuses have now and would have the resources to help.

I would take that to mean that school and teacher policies could change (legally) during the semester and the syllabus may not be a binding document throughout the semester in that case. For example, if the professor changed dates for exams or moved around the order of content being taught as presented on the syllabus, that would not be a big deal, but it would not be in line with what was on the syllabus. Additionally, usually colleges vote on major changes between terms, but if something pertaining to policy (grading, attendance, etc.) was changed mid-semester, that would be void on the syllabus. Having worked in public schools, one thing over the last few years we had to add to our syllabi and other published documents was an equal opportunity and non-discriminatory statement. I am sure this is something similar.

Have you talked to an adviser at your school who would know that you need to class and to put you in it as a priority? As long as you have good study skills and your school will accept the credit, it won't really matter where you take the class. I can understand you being anxious though, and that's normal. Regardless of where you take the course, you can always supplement your learning with extra resources to help you. The A&P book my school uses comes with an online study guide, DVD materials, and I have Martini's Atlas of the Human Body (great resource). When I came to a topic I was studying, I would look up materials about it online from other colleges (PowerPoints, study materials, etc.), and that was always very informative seeing it in a different way.

I use flash drives as a last resort now. What I have found that works is copying and pasting my work into a "draft" e-mail and saving that draft. That way, I know it is not going anywhere. I have had a couple of flash drives just up and stop working over the years and learned the hard way.

If you know for sure you are going on for another degree, take any chemistry classes or SOCI/PSYC classes that you can use for your degree. Get all of the core classes out of the way, so all you will have left are the nursing classes. Talk to the school where you are getting the advanced degree and see if they will give you permission to take the lower level class at the school where you are currently. Sometimes, they will work with you. Just get it in writing. My school offers a whole semester of CPR as a PE class. Also, you could take another PE class as a way to have scheduled work out time and a little bit of "you" time.

First rule of any employment (and that includes student nursing): Don't get your money and your honey from the same place. Leave that married man alone.

I have recently discovered the electronic coupons on the Kroger website that I can download to my Kroger card. I am a vegetarian and do not buy brands that test on animals if I can help it, so many are not applicable, but I do enjoy any extra savings I can find. If you have babies, there are A LOT of diaper and baby coupons on there. Also, if you rent the big carpet cleaning machine with the cleaner that comes with it, there is almost always a very good coupon on there for that.
