    Discipline Meeting

I'm so glad for you. As others have posted, don't let her live rent free in your head. That having been said ? I'd actually act normal/fairly non-committal friendly like. It'll make.her.crazy wondering what you are up to.

    Sigma Theta Tau International membership

The very definition of the word "pendantic".

    Sigma Theta Tau International membership

Wow, this took an unexpected turn ?

How important is it as a Nurse to get out of your comfort zone?

^^this. I do suggest the OP try reframing this as a "growth experience" which sounds a lot more positive. Every step out of our comfort zones adds a little more experience.

    Temporary Disability

I can't like this enough. As a veteran of ruining myself working too early after knee injuries I totally agree.

    COPD- 98% O2 sat?

Folks, a spammer bumped this post (spam post looks deleted thank you Mods!) it's from 2011...just FYI

Renegotiating pay rate... is it too late?

Well, the logical thing to do is ask HR the questions you are asking here. As far as negotiating a higher wage, I've always thought it never hurts to ask.

Hospice Patient’s Family Refusing Hospice Cares

Absolutely 100% correct, no disparagement meant at all.

Hospice Patient’s Family Refusing Hospice Cares

It's how we protect ourselves...denial is a wonderful way to shield ourselves from that which we can't cope with yet.

Hospice Patient’s Family Refusing Hospice Cares

What you are missing is the psychology of patient's family members who are acting out guilty feelings or pre-grieving in an inappropriate way. They often over manage-or under manage- such things as pain because that's all they can do for their loved...

    Is this reasonable?

All that being said, the patient still needs care. You are responsible for not bringing any bug-not just Covid-19- out of one home and into the wild so your donning/doffing and other precautions need to be spot on.

    Is this reasonable?

I guess I don't see what the issue is, you've had your vaccinations and have adequate PPE. Trust your training, keep following infection control procedures and the have faith in the science behind the vaccine. Edited to add: I'd be more concern...

    Mean and Nice Coworker

Only thing to add is that it's only a game if you play it. Be polite, non-committal and don't let this person take up real estate in your head.

Graduate Degree in Engineering? (Career switch worth it?)

I've got to say, my husband is an engineer (ME) and never works nights weekends holidays and has no idea what being "on call" is. I can remember early on in our relationship the utter confusion on his face when I mentioned I couldn't make plans becau...

    VA Nursing Homes- Help wanted!

I'm currently a case manager in primary care, so I run across this scenario quite a bit. First suggestion would be to take a deep breath and begin to jump through the hoops needed for the VA. The process can take 4-6-8 months but in the end those ben...

How Long Do You Expect To Be a Nurse?

I think this advice is the smartest thing I've read lately, given my fast acceleration into old age.

Non Clinical Positions For New Grads

Well, you have to have real world practical experience as a nurse to qualify for most non bedside positions. Easiest way to figure out what these requirements are is to look on a jobs website like indeed.com and check out what employers are looking f...

    Thank you email. Post interview

I've always kept thank you emails short and sweet, something along the lines of "Thank you for taking time to meet with me today. I appreciated learning more about the position/mission statement/hospital system (whatever). If you need any additi...

    So, who are you?

After all these years I still think of myself as a paramedic and first responder who is now a nurse, even though I've not been on a truck since passing the NCLEX. I like being a nurse, but loved being a medic.

How Long Do You Expect To Be a Nurse?

Well, this is my third and hopefully last career so at least another 14 years or so, or until I win the lotto ?

I need advice about my new RN job at a drug rehab center

I don't have any experience in the OP's situation but I do counsel her to change her nursedotcom name and picture to something less identifiable. We know for a fact employers skim this board, and anything posted on the internet is forever.

Online MSN Nursing Informatic Program living overseas

I graduated with my BSN from Western Governors University, and the curriculum was entirely online. I know they do have a Master's program in informatics. https://www.wgu.edu/content/dam/western-governors/documents/institutional-catalog/2021/ca...
