  1. New Grad Job Market PMHNP

Are you doing your PMHNP online? If so where? Your experience sounds similar to mine. I've done LTC , and currently in a hospital on a telemetry floor. Everyone told me to do medsurg nursing first so that I will not lose my skill. Working is a drag ...
  2. Legally how many doses can a nurse hold?

If there are parameters then you can hold the medication. If there are none I'd notify the MD.
  3. I went to Muhlenberg and it wasn't very cheap. What I can say is you'll become a RN sooner than if you'd gone to a university. Working as a RN and getting back into the school groove foot the BSN is very challenging.
  4. JFK Muhlenberg -Spring 2015...

Best wishes guys. I graduated from their january 2013. Its hard work but stick with it
  5. The Fat One

That is very mean and unprofessional. If she can do this to a student , then I have no doubt that she would use the same description with a patient. I find it funny that she can remember that the student is 'the fat one' but blames the wrong person ...
  6. Bsn at western governors

I'm shooting for may 2015 also. I'm just waiting for my transcript to be evaluated. :)
  7. Was Pharm a biggie on the nclex-rn?

Everyone's exam is different. There are tons of meds so try to focus on classes. For example my friend had an antiseizure med while I had what to teach a pt about an osteoporosis med. So focus on class not individual meds.
  8. Work as PMHNP & staff RN on the side

I would say if thats what you want then go ahead as long as you remain within your scope of practice. You are probably tired of school but you could go back to become a FNP or adult NP since you already have some of the core classes. Best wishes.
  9. I completed my BSN today. Feel free to ask any questions

I've applied to WGU and I wondered the same thing. My ultimate goal is to become a psychNP .
  10. I am referring to patients such as your drug seekers, call bell pushers, the one- shifters. What have you said or done that is not disrespectful but firm and effective in putting such patients in line?
  11. How do you deal with demanding/unreasonable patients?

Ones- shifters are patients who require you to spend the entire shift with them and not
  12. How many job interviews before you get your first nursing job?

I did a total of two interviews. Interviewed first in April then august 26 that's when I got my first job
  13. is your job aging you?

I've been a nurse for one and half year and gotten my first four strands of gray hair.
  14. I completed my BSN today. Feel free to ask any questions

  15. I completed my BSN today. Feel free to ask any questions

Congrats! Is there a maximum number of credits that can be done for the 6 month semester? How many credits did you do per semester? Are the assignments graded at the end of the 6months? Do you have weekly graded posts? How many papers did you have t...
  16. I'm sorry for what has been happening to you. I am a new nurse also and I've had my issues . My boss counseled me once and said '' we can only go forward right?" I've been chastised by many older /more experienced nurses. Things like: I've failed t...
  17. Don't be that Nurse

I'm a RN and I understand. I worked as a CNA/PCT while in nursing school. Trust me I sucked at it. Getting the vitals, blood sugar, answering call bells and cleaning poop is hardwork. I would go home with my aching feet and cry to my mom. There w...

  19. Struggling during second semester, need some advice

I understand completely. I used to be a nervous wreck in skills too. I'd get really anxious. Practice in the skills lab is really helpful. Practice at home , watch skills video and memorize step by step instructions on the particular skills.
  20. Thinking about quitting

I understand completely what you are experiencing. My first job as a ADN qualified RN was in a nursing home too back in August of 2013. It actually took me 5 months to get this job. I felt somewhat discouraged because many of my fellow graduates wi...

  24. Anatomy of a Code

6 months into my job at a hospital I had my first code which was last week. Very scary but with good team mates, it went smoothly. Doing compressions or writing the code are two of the easiest jobs during the code because you get to watch and hear e...
