They mean they eat new grads for lunch hahaha I mostly bring leftovers. Sometimes from eating out and sometimes from a big dish of something that I cook at the beginning of the week. Everyone here has had good suggestion regarding quick, high energ...

I'm a day babe. I can't hang on nights. I frequently feel sick during and after my shift. I'm nauseated, sometimes dry heaving/vomiting around 2-3am on. I believe it's due to a medication I take at night that I usually would sleep through these ...
A good drugstore option is Neutrogena oil free moisture with SPF. We seem to have similar skin types and that has always kept me relatively neutral year round.

Guy sounds like a pompous *not nice word*. I would have said something like 'hey this patient's febrile but their order for Tylenol needs to be adjusted because it's only written for pain." If he was rude in response he'd be asking for trouble :)...
All of the above mentioned. I love when I can get my vented, deconditioned ICU patient out of bed into a chair with all their tubes and wires organized.

You can do this. It's not the preferred way and I have never seen it. I suppose it may have been done more frequently in instances where IV access couldn't be established before IOs were widely used. Think about where the med would end up if it wer...
Don't worry about specialties now you probably have enough stress with nursing school as is. Like others have said just focus on doing well and passing your NCLEX. Chances are once you graduate you'll be excited to get whatever job you can Most ...

My favorite med to take is probably either vicodin or zofran, but I have very little experience being a patient. I know when I was a kid I used to love the bubblegum taste of amoxicillin! My favorite meds to give are adenosine, propofol, and vec!
Well nice job getting the job done, at least! You can go home thinking that you definitely left the patient better than you found them, which is always a good feeling.
Okay this isn't my story to tell, but a coworkers: Nurse was talking to a patient as she was about to place an IV. A doctor walks into the room just as the nurse warns, "Ok here comes that little prick I was telling you about."
I think skin prep and using the correct sized condom are the keys to success. If the condom is easy to put on, it's too big. In my experience just about every male is a small/extra small when they're in my unit. Sorry dudes!

-Patient on continuous BiPAP wants to order breakfast -Give miralax and test for c diff on the same patient the same shift -Portable x-ray comes seconds after you boost and turn your patient -Mix your own pressors! -Family member is waiting in the ha...
In the ICU I see this abbreviation all the time in provider notes and even use it myself from time to time. It's one of my favorites :). Never heard of the bathroom privileges one, probably because my patients rarely have any.
I felt the same way for a solid year and still feel like that from time to time (almost 2 years in). What helps me is reminding myself that this is JUST A JOB. Struggling does not mean you are a good or bad person and it doesn't determine your self...

100% agree with PP. You may not even have to go to a tailor if you or someone you know knows how to sew. Just take a small piece of the neck of a crew neck T-shirt and sew it underneath the v neck so it goes across the chest.

Old thread! I hate wearing masks. It makes me feel hot and claustrophobic and I have to smell my own breath (maybe I should start chewing gum....). I'd rather grin and bear it because honestly it's such a minute part of my day I have a million an...

Not bashing you, but some of my pet peeves: a) patients yelling out for the nurse/shaking their bed rails b) family members coming out in the hall and finding me (sometimes while I'm in another patient's room) c) family members lingering in the hallw...
