Bio chem is required for some BSNs. I had to take organic chem; couldn't have passed the required biochem course without it.

I think the reason you see "go for the BSN if you can" so often is because it leaves you with more options down the road, especially if you eventually want an advanced degree or some kind of leadership/management position.
