  1. Operation Theator.... clinical posting....

Our main role was to observe but we were allowed to do anything we could do in clinical, i.e. insert foleys, etc. We also had a short writing assignment to turn in after the experience.
  2. passing the nclex with 205 questions

You can pass OR fail with any number of questions. Congratulations on passing!
  3. How to get into the ER?

I'm a new grad and will start in the ER next month. I did my preceptorships in the ER during school and picked up PRN shifts (I was an NA for the system already). I let them know that I wanted to work there after graduation. They interviewed 5 and h...
  4. Taking NCLEX Jan 7th

First of all, I'm sorry to hear you didn't pass. As far as the next time you test, you may get no EKG questions, you may get a lot of them. Questions are random. Review EKGs just in case!
  5. Carolinas HealthCare System- NA I vs. Healthcare Technician

It's difficult to get an NA/HCT job unless you know somebody. The school has an HR rep that visits every month; that's how I finally got 2 interviews and was offered a job on both floors. Since you just finished the NA program, call the school and ta...
  6. Taking NCLEX Jan 7th

I "studied" by doing practice questions and practice tests from ATI, Lippincott, NCSBN, and a Kaplan book for 2 weeks before the test. I didn't do the q trainers and have no idea what they are. I didn't look at LaCharity or Saunders.
  7. Carolinas HealthCare System- NA I vs. Healthcare Technician

It's helpful from a networking perspective and being comfortable working with patients but it definitely doesn't help you ace nursing school. In fact, sometimes it's a hindrance because textbook nursing and real world nursing are very different!
  8. What to do after ADN?

I graduated in December with my ASN and passed NCLEX a couple of days ago. I was hired into a new grad residency program for a level 1 trauma center/ER. The hospital has magnet status so I know I need to further my education in the next few years. Th...
  9. NCLEX befuddled

Everybody goes to the credit card page now. You have to put in a credit card number for the trick to be done correctly. Only after you click submit will you either get the good pop up (PASS) or your card will be charged (FAIL).
  10. Carolinas HealthCare System- NA I vs. Healthcare Technician

I've been an NA/HCT for the system since 2012 (throughout nursing school). I passed NCLEX a couple of weeks ago and will be changing my status to RN next month. :)
  11. Anti-vax nurses? Are you serious?

I had to have high school chemistry for my ASN program but not college level. I'll have to take it when I go for my BSN.
  12. I live in Charlotte, NC. New grads start around $21-22/hr and, since I'm a new grad, I don't know beyond that. LOL Awesome area for families and housing in outlying areas is inexpensive with lots of new home developments being built.
  13. Taking NCLEX Jan 7th

Thanks for the sweet words! I felt as prepared as I possibly could be the day I graduated. Because of that, I didn't have the nerves that so many people have not did I feel like I needed to spend weeks or month studying for it. Yes, I had a nervous s...
  14. Carolinas HealthCare System- NA I vs. Healthcare Technician

I work at CMC Main. An HCT (healthcare tech) is an NA who is also trained as unit secretary.
  15. I tested Wed Jan 7 and it posted on NCBON on Thursday Jan 15.
  16. Urgent -NCLEX ON FRIDAY

I tested a couple of weeks ago on a Wednesday. Quick results were available Friday. My name showed up on the BON website the following Thursday.
  17. Passed with 75!

It's best to wait 24 hours to try the PVT since the test is graded twice so the first score may not be correct. Everybody goes to the credit card page now. Did you put in your credit card information and actually get charged $200? If it charged your ...
  18. NCLEX stopped at 86

Did you enter your credit card number? If you didn't enter your CC number then you didn't do the trick correctly. Everybody goes to the registration page now (as of Aug 2014, I think). Search this site -- there are PLENTY of posts about the trick.
  19. PVT

I honestly don't know. I didn't study for it. I took it 3 weeks after graduation. I spent about 2 weeks doing 100-200 practice questions a day, reading the rationales for every answer. I did questions while watching TV, waiting at stoplights, standin...
  20. PVT

Try it again after 24 hours. Each test is scored twice so it's best to wait until then. If you get the same message after 24 hours, it's a pretty good sign that you failed.
  21. Please help, almost 2 years and no job!

The local diploma program school where I live graduates its last class this year. They have consistently had 100% NCLEX pass rates and have the best reputation around town. Sadly, due to budget cuts, the hospital system chose to close it. Some of th...
  22. TEAS Test Exampls, I need help!

I used this book a couple of weeks before I took TEAS. I found it very helpful.
  23. How I passed NCLEX in 75 questions

I graduated in December and took -- and passed -- NCLEX last week in 75 questions. I know there are plenty of posts about studying for and passing NCLEX but I wanted to add what worked for me. Granted, most of what I'm about to post won't help those ...
  24. Prestige in Employment

My school is affiliated with the local healthcare system and they prefer hiring grads from my school over other schools. The main hospital has magnet status and my school is an ASN but we still get chosen over 2 other local BSN graduates all the time...
  25. How I passed NCLEX in 75 questions

When you can test depends on how quickly your school submits the paperwork so you can get your ATT code, which you need to have in order to schedule NCLEX. I graduated on a Friday (Dec 12) and my school sent our records the following Monday. We had o...
