  1. PREP U LINPINKOTT 10000 ADAPTIVE TEST REVIEW FOR RN Nclex !

I did the free 2 week trial. I really liked it.
  2. Anyone currently using NCSBN for their NCLEX RN review?

I got ahold of the test bank questions and used those along with ATI and Lippincott. I didn't "study" for NCLEX; I did 75-150 practice questions a day for about 2 weeks prior to the test. Passed in 75 questions.
  3. How many job interviews before you get your first nursing job?

1 application. 1 interview with my first choice. Back up interview with my 2nd choice just in case. 1 job offer from my first choice. Canceled 2nd interview. :)
  4. UNCW RN-BSN program

The only reason I was denied admission was the English class. I need 2; I only have 1. Supposedly you have to have BOTH English classes before being admitted, even though there are other classes (like chemistry and stats) that you can take after you'...
  5. UNCW RN-BSN program

After a phone call, I found out it wasn't because of grades. ..it was because I need another English class. Why couldn't the letter have said THAT?!?!?
  6. Might get kicked out today!

Our NS syringes aren't locked up. Neither are the bags. In school we were taught to always carry a few syringes (still wrapped) in our pockets just in case we needed them to flush IVs, clean a wound, etc.
  7. UNCW RN-BSN program

I was denied admission based on my academic record. ***** I graduated with my ASN with a GPA of 3.7 and my community college pre-req GPA was 4.0. My high school GPA wasn't great but it was THIRTY years ago. I called and left a message to find out why...
  8. I think I failed Nclex in 75 questions

Not true. You can fail with 75 questions.
  9. I think I failed Nclex in 75 questions

That's the good pop up! And after 24 hours, it's pretty close to 100% reliable. Have you tried it again today?
  10. UNCW RN-BSN program

Thanks for the feedback. I'm waiting for one more transcript to be received so I can have everything audited to see what will transfer. Congratulations on being so close to finishing! (And good luck with that MSN. )
  11. PASSED the NCLEX first time with 75 questions!

I passed in 75 questions and only "studied" for 2 weeks. By studying, I mean I did 75-150 practice questions a day. That's it. My school pays for the 3 day ATI class so I took that. I didn't do a single Kaplan q-trainer (I still don't even know what ...
  12. Taking Patients down to the Morgue

I work in the ER and we always take deceased patients to the morgue.
  13. Carolinas College of Health Sciences for second degree?

The majority of students sign up for the Loan Forgiveness. It used to be called the 80/20 plan because it covered 80% of tuition but now that tuition has gone up, they make it a flat $10,000. Every semester, you have to sign a form that says you want...
  14. Is it normal to not graduate "on time"?

My cohort had students as young as 19 and as old as late 40s. No one stuck out.
  15. Preserving your marriage while being a good student?

^^THIS^^. We've been married almost 25 years; I just graduated in December. We both knew it would be a rough 2 years for me (type A overachiever so working my ass off for a high GPA was the only way I would do it) so we lived by our family motto: Suc...
  16. Carolinas College of Health Sciences for second degree?

I graduated from CCHS. YES, we DO have student housing although there are only a few houses (2-3 bedrooms) and I've heard it may be discontinued. You can get $10,000 in "free money" by using the loan forgiveness program as long as you work full-time ...
  17. Carolinas HealthCare System- NA I vs. Healthcare Technician

In 2.5 years as an HCT on the floor, I've only needed a stethoscope maybe 4 or 5 times. You can borrow one from one of the nurses or use a disposable one. Not sure if other floors use them more often, but I only needed mine if I needed to take manual...
  18. Carolinas HealthCare System- NA I vs. Healthcare Technician

Congrats! I worked PRN during school so my hours were really flexible. Some weeks I didn't work at all, other weeks I'd work Friday after a test or one day during the weekend. I didn't do nights. Once I transferred to the ED it was really easy to pic...
  19. I'm going out on a limb here...

If you search for NCLEX groups on Facebook, you'll find TONS of files posted in the various groups. I didn't buy any of my review material because it was all posted in these groups: NCSBN, Kaplan, LaCharity, Saunders...I was able to download files fo...
  20. What did you give up to be in nursing school?

I didn't have to give up anything. I'm in my late 40s, kids are grown, and hubby earns a fabulous salary. I retired from my former career (20 years) and went back to school a couple of years ago. Graduated in December. My biggest issue is going to be...
  21. What Nursing Shoes Do You Wear?

    I love my Allegrias!
  22. Failed 5th time is there God I can't study anymore!!!!!!!!

    Love this.
  23. Failed 5th time is there God I can't study anymore!!!!!!!!

    1) I think failing 5 times is a huge red flag that needs to be addressed. 2) I work for a magnet hospital. As a new grad. With "only" my ASN.
  24. Failed 5th time is there God I can't study anymore!!!!!!!!

No flame from me. I agree 100%. If someone can't show minimum competency 5 times, there's a problem.
  25. Want To start A Petition-Any advice?

I had 2 c-sections in the early 90s. Both arms were strapped to the table both times and I'm so glad they were! I get terrible shakes with any anesthesia. I had an epidural so I could be awake during both deliveries. I was shaking uncontrollably so t...
