  1. Great thx for the info!!!
  2. Thanks!! Yea I know the VA isn't the only place ( thank goodness right ) I like the school I'm at and it is regionally accredited I guess I'm just wondering if hospitals in ca are sticklers for that nln accred. I'm in ny getting adn here then moving back to ca to work and finish bsn there so I'm really banking on the fact that an rn is an rn whether nln or regional accredited adn...
  3. Thank you for the info... I had read another post that the rn was a veteran and the VA said because her adn wasn't nln she wasn't going to be considered... What do you think about calling the congressman in this case ?
  4. I just don't get it I thought the higher your degree and it's credentials that that's what would come into play... Not the fact that an rn has a bsn that's ccne but an adn that's regionally accred but not nln...
  5. What? That's crazy! I woulda assumed that your highest degree was what mattered!! Well you know what they say about assuming... Where did you end up finding work? What hospitals are "new" rn friendly
  6. Thank you !!
  7. Hi I'll be moving to ca from ny once I obtain the licensure by endorsement. The ny school I'll be grad from is regionally accredited. I spoke to cal state Fullerton and I'd be able to transfer adn credits to their rn to bsn program because the ny school has regional accreditation. Does anyone know if the VA in long beach or any VA in the vicinity will hire an rn whose adn is not nln accredited but regionally accredited and has opportunity for rn to bsn from ccne accredited school and whose a veteran!! Thanks

    Thoughts/Experiences working in a V.A. hospital?

How long did you have to wait to transfer? Did you have to work at the VA for a certain period of time before you were able to transfer to another VA?
  9. Does anyone know if the VA will hire a graduate from a non nln school who is a veteran and going to pursue a bsn from a ccne accredited program? And if that VA hires a veteran grad from the non nln school but the program is an accredited program, if that rn wanted to transfer to another VA hospital would there be issues of hiring that rn because of the non nln or is it because it's still within the VA system that the transfer would just go through? Also if so to transfer from one VA hospital to another VA in a different state are there any stipulations? Like do you have to work at the hospital for a year before they will transfer you? Thanks!

  11. Oh and I just got a reply from someone at the ca brn in the email it said most u.s. Nursing Schools meet the educational requirement
  12. Thanks your right
  13. Yea true I'm sure it'll be fine im just a worrier. it's just unsettling how the ca brn website just states must meet ca educational requirements, without them even listing what they really are. I assume the most important thing is the RN license.. Right? Thx
  14. Thanks for the reply thecommuter!! Yes the school here in ny is ny Bon approved and accred by the board of regents and I calculated the number of clin hrs and it's 78 hrs. The pre reqs for the nur programs here I believe are consistent with ca... Micro, a&p,chem etc... Anyhow I know people have gone to this current private hospital based school that I am currently attending and moved out of ny but they didn't move to ca so I didn't know exactly if ca requirements education and clinical components ( if you needed certain amount of clin hours to meet ca requirement) were vastly different. I have tried calling the cabon but unable to get thru b/c of their high call volume. Thanks thecommuter you seem to be very helpful and would appreciate any more help
  15. No I'm NOT grad from ec( excelsior college) i had heard ca wouldnt license grads from there and I was wondering who else ca wouldn't license.. I really would like to know if licensure goes on individual basis or is ca not granting RN license based on where an RN graduate from... Who else is ca not licensing? I just don't want to get thru nursing school here in ny,obtain my RN license only to find out I can't be granted an RN license thru the state of ca. And sorry I don't know how to start a new thread kinda new to this thx caliotter3 your response is appreciated
  16. I plan on moving to ca ( my home state) after I pass the boards here in ny. I know from the cabon website that ec grads won't be granted licensure but is that the only program or are there more programs from ny that they're having an issue with? And if ec is the only program is it as simple as filling out a form and getting an RN license with ca? Thanks and sorry if I came confusing just want to make sure once I'm done with nursing school here that I'll be able to move back home and work I'm ca
