I know several people doing this route. It is so hard here in California. From what I know, California isn't a state that participates in reciprocity. You would just take your NCLEX out of state then apply in California for licensure. That is from my understanding from asking the friends who are doing it.
I inquired about CSUF and it is 98% online based. The public health portion is what is required face to face and from what I am told, they can provide clinicals as close as possible to me. The clinicals is 1 day a week. So I am more than likely going with CSUF for several reasons and this being one of them.

I am in my mid-late 40's and I did it. I found a place that offers TEAS prep course and I paid out of pocket for this. It cost a bit but it was 5 days/8 hours each class and I passed the TEAS the 1st attempt. I didn't even just pass, I did better than that. So I would suggest doing that and I would suggest a study group. Try to relax and pray! Assure your mind that you are ready and you got this!!!

I have a few mishap grades myself and what I did was apply to a college that most don't want to drive too. I was able to get into an LVN to RN bridge without any problem and not once did the Nursing Counselor ever ask why regarding any C or W grade. It's called life and stuff happens. If you are an LVN/LPN than it should be presumed that one is working and being given credit for this. Sure, I have A's on my record too but things happen that are out of one's control. A high GPA student can just be a good test taker but it doesn't mean he/she will make a great nurse. Just my opinion. I wouldn't give up and for fact, I did not. Keep looking and apply to schools that you are willing to wake up at 4am for. Best of luck to you!!!

They took longer than expected with our LVN to RN applications, so I know how you all feel. If you think you are starting this fall; I would get my physical, 2 step TB test, Hep B/MMR/Varicella titer tests done now, if you haven't already done so. Hang on & I hope good news to all!!!!

It all depends on your determination. I have been in college on/off for 29 years! So trust me, I have some college transcripts that show a lame D, F or W and it is embarrassing to me BUT not 1 school held it against me. I repeated each class and did great 2nd time around. I never took a class a 3rd time and yes, grade forgiveness is a blessing! No one can tell you if you will get into a nursing program but I would just re-take those classes for a better grade. What will it hurt by repeating the classes? Most of us had to repeat a few if not more. Best of luck to you!

Thank you! If I was #23 then that would make me an alternate added in. Same way if you register for a class that only allows for so many students. Maybe some people dropped or didn't respond to their letters? All I know is I am in and I am so grateful. AVC uses mail so delivery takes time. I pray they move on to email cause this was crazy.
