  1. I am a new grad and getting ready to begin my first job as an RN. I have read numerous threads from this site about whether or not insurance is important. I am 100% convinced that as a new nurse, the small price to pay for insurance is well worth the cost. My question is: Which is the BEST insurance policy to have? I noticed NSO only overs up to $1,000,000 per incident, but yet it still seems to be popular. To me that doesn't seem like very high coverage when you hear about these lawsuits where the patients are suing for multi-million dollar settlements. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
  2. I recently heard about forensic nursing. Traditional bedside nursing is definitely not my niche and so I am trying to find out more about it (forensic nursing). From the research I have done I have been able to find out that a forensic nurse sometimes works for a police department. It's been hard to find solid credible information on this area of nursing. Does anyone reading this thread have experience as a forensic nurse? If so, what is it like? Has anyone heard of the Kaplan certificate course for Forensic nursing? I spoke with them and had a rather lengthy conversation, although I'm not convinced they offer a good program. Any input would be greatly appreciated! :-)
  3. Hey everyone - I recently obtained my RN license but have absolutely no desire to do traditional bedside nursing. I love working with people just not in a hospital setting. What alternatives are there for a BSN - RN prepared nurse with no clinical experience (outside of college clinical rotation experience)? I have heard about insurance companies hiring RNs to review cases, etc...however that sounds incredibly boring. I KNOW there are lesser known jobs other than traditional bedside nursing or pushing paper. Could you all give me some suggestions to look in to? Thanks!!
  4. I am in the same boat as you. I am eager to hear the replies of others.
