Here in my part of Ohio, the starting wages are between $15-$17.50 an hour. If you drive out about a half hour, toward Cleveland, a new grad makes
  13. how far is too far to commute?

My commute is 45 minutes and I love it! Like another poster said, it's down time for me. By the time I get home I'm ready for my husband and children. Also, the job pays more than I was offered...
  14. Now I'm not so sure

It sounds like you have some excellent reasons for wanting to go the LPN route first. If that's what you want, then go for it. It's the route that I and many others have chosen and I don't regret it...
  15. It just isn't fair

Thank you for understanding. A 3.5 GPA is nothing to sneeze at and it must be painful to feel that she was passed over. I wish the OP the best as she pursues her nursing education. Hopefully, she...
  16. It just isn't fair

I like the way you put it. I love people and healthcare and could have chosen any number of ways to involve myself in both interests. I chose nursing because it is well paying, there are plenty of...
  17. It just isn't fair

I'm sorry if I misunderstood you. I was responding to this, I think it's harmful thinking to make such a broad statement. It doesn't take into consideration that there are many people (including...

  23. It just isn't fair

LAROSILIERE, I hope this thread isn't deleted that easily. I haven't read any post that was disrespectful. I think that we are simply trying to point out a thought process and judgement by the OP...
  24. It just isn't fair

One of the first things you will hopefully learn in nursing school is to lose the judgementalism. Circumstances are not all the same for everyone who applies to nursing school and if you start judging...
