I can only give my opinion. Yes and No. I was a CNA for two years while I attended nursing school. As an RN you have more responsibility which I like and dislike. As the RN you are responsible for pretty much everything (at least I am when working ni...
destin- I wonder about that too. I have been applying for L&D jobs, but it would be hard to go through that training on top of starting Frontier, if I were to get in! I think if I were to be accepted, I would stay on the cardiac stepdown unit tha...
I'd say if its what you want to do.Do it! These jobs are so hard to come by and if you get the opportunity, go for it. Also, you might get labeled as the Med/Surg nurse or the cardiac nurse and it'll be that much harder to break into the field after ...
destin-I do too! Its weird, I feel like Frontier is calling me too! I need to apply ADN-MSN also, but I've really been putting off my application. Part of me is so scared to do it. Like, I won't be a good CNM or something, even though this is all I'v...
Wow, the typical job vs. mother thing! It sounds like you've considered it all though. I'd go with the BSN. It sounds like you'd get an awesome learning experience there, which is most important. Plus, you have awesome contacts there! All the more ea...

I checked out Piedmont yesterday and there are alot of opening for L&D and mother/baby! I'm not sure how far it is from the area your speaking of though.
Not to hijack your thread, but recently I have seen quite a few CNM and NNP jobs in my area, so I'm hoping the job outlook only gets better in my area.
Has anyone ever considered giving up nursing altogether? I've recently thought about doing something else that I've always wanted to do,but its COMPLETELY opposite of nursing. I definetely won't make the same amount of money, but I don't think my hea...

carol_ yes, I can sing! I mean I'm not Jennifer Hudson, but I think I could do it! I hate that our society teaches kids that are artsy, that you can't make a living out of it,this is why the arts are struggling in so many areas of the country. yeah e...

hahaha, well you guys cheered me up at least. I came into nursing knowing ALL I wanted to do was OB, stupid I know, but I knew that's what I wanted. Even in school, I could tolerate everything else and thought I might actually like doing it. After a...
Sadly, I discourged friends, family from Nursing too. It's just not what it used to be. Like the others said we are less of a professional and more of a task-orientated laborer.I'm scared for the future of floor nursing and want to get out!
