I think it's a good idea to have a fresh IV going before surgery. For all you seasoned OR nurses, does guage size matter? I always try to start a pt going to preop with a 18 or 20 guage.

I've heard of Magic Mouthwash which is used for patients with mouth sores. It's a combo of Benedryl and Mylanta and you swish and spit. I've used it myself for canker sores and it does work!
