Ive seen newer nurses who dont follow safety policies precepting new nurses...oh because they have BSN's while older nurses are treated like its time to put them out to pasture...Bullying is commonplace in nursing and it has no age limit.

Bingo..u hit the nail on the head....hospitals are looking for ways to save money...new grads have MORE opportunity where I work....the economy is just bad for everyone....keep on looking ... it will come,,,get back in BSN school if you dont have it....

I chart what they say and if it is over 10 I leave it blank and make a comment THEN I FLAAC score their pain(typically its a 0) and make sure to write a note in the interdisciplinary not as to summarize my findings...very useful if behavioral med get...

I wish you could order a "stat" audiology test for people that rate their pain more than a 10 or tell them it is policy to state they are lying if its more than 10..tee hee

Sounds good...they should have done some baseline labs in my opinion but still that isn't always the case. Was this a random level or a trough right before the third dose? It could have been very high because of the time it was drawn if it was random...

In the future I would also get a doctors order for the new time change to infuse. I am not sure if you did this. I think there is soooooooooooooooo much misunderstanding about aminoglycoside monitoring. Was there an order that said vanc per pharmacis...

We do not have a license to practice medicine Hospice LPN... a license for nursing care big difference...but your message was meaningful.. I encourage her NOT to beat herself up and try to move on...be proactive..find out if it was reported to the BO...
