  1. Puerto Rico school feedback?

Turabo is accredited by the CCNE. It has a better reputation academically as well. I spoke to one of the Deans in English, over the phone, 6 months ago. All the classes are in Spanish, and it's not like an accelerated-type program. It is normally a 4...
  2. <Information about Touro Nevada>

Their website has contact-us links that you can click on to email them. If you can't get ahold of someone at the admissions office, they will respond pretty well via email. The lady in admissions to email - her name starts with "G". You can send me a...
  3. <Information about Touro Nevada>

Wow. That's reedonkulous! I was told I'd be notified WAY before June, via email. I'm planning on visiting the campus late this month so hopefully that's a generalization on their part. Who did you talk to at the office?
  4. <Information about Touro Nevada>

The chem is very basic. I read examples of questions online and had a copy of previous sample tests that I bought at the bookstore - which is WAY too detailed. The truth is the basic math sections are more in depth than the chemistry and the English ...
  5. <Information about Touro Nevada>

I don't remember there being an gas law questions in my TEAS last year, even though it's on the study guide (ALOT of the study guide was NOT on the TEAS. Broad general knowledge is much more important than you'd think; ie. igneous rock ? basic math? ...
  6. <Information about Touro Nevada>

By emailing them and asking...really. That's what I meant by "electronically". Good luck
  7. <Information about Touro Nevada>

No it's cool. Another student told me they didn't get an email until mid-April last year. They have very few staff apparently. I'm not worried. I just don't want to bother ------ while she's traveling; Lest it seem too desperate on my part.
  8. <Information about Touro Nevada>

I sent mine in on March 3rd. I'm gonna call them on Thurs.
  9. Puerto Rico school feedback?

Well we all have different given circumstances, don't we. My fiancee is "ok" living anywhere that is required - she's originally from Central America but used to live in Henderson. I spent my life jumping between Philly, LA, Ohio, London, Colorado a...
  10. <Information about Touro Nevada>

Really?! It looks ahite to me. My fiancee used to live there. I guess it depends on what you like. It's development is new and growing but it seems to be super cheap which is probably its best attribute. Apparently Summerlin is LV's best suburb all a...
  11. Puerto Rico school feedback?

The cost of living in Henderson, NV is only about 50% that of Socal. I don't know when the deadlin for Drexel is/was for this Fall but I can guarantee that my fiancee would not be down with moving to Philly - not even a little bit.
  12. Puerto Rico school feedback?

Cool. Yeah their PA program requires O Chem, but not the Acc-BSN program - and I think it's about $32k for the 16months. Drexel ...hahah, I lived in Philly in High school and yeah, well it's probably a pretty solid program and Philly has no shortage ...
  13. Puerto Rico school feedback?

that's great. you might want to read some of the more jaded responses on this thread page as well as in the last 3-5 pages to gain an idea of what to expect over the next 6 months. "e" seems to very good at getting the application to people and answe...
  14. Puerto Rico school feedback?

Touro in Nevada cause it's 16 months, has relatively high pass rates, and is conveniently located to CA and a major airport. I also applied to the Mt. Saint Mary's but it's reedonkulously expensive so probably wouldn't go there even if I got in - and...
  15. Puerto Rico school feedback?

The program in a nutshell, perhaps? It's very much a shame. In my opinion, the concept of private education is to avoid the bureaucracy of the "lowest common denominator" and to ferment competitive practices which allow for more efficient practices. ...
  16. Puerto Rico school feedback?

I apologize in advance for the following sarcasm Chanel Number 5, but your last post reminded me of a sketch my comedy group did back in college called "Abroad Guy". Where the guy was retelling his stories of surviving in "the Kiber desert with a fli...
  17. Puerto Rico school feedback?

I'd say look at the previous feedback in this thread. If you speak Spanish well, call them. You can google the school with a search like "Metro english trimester program" or "iau metro campus" etc.. if you don't have the direct link. Good luck.
  18. Puerto Rico school feedback?

Yeah that's understandible, but what would be super helpful would be for the people like you who actually are IN the program to dose us with a little reality regarding what happens in the application process as well as your overall experience. Ie. Ho...
  19. Puerto Rico school feedback?

Interesting. Let us all know what happens. The gentleman you refer to is most likely the same person who I have dealt with the past 4 months. I too applied on-line AS WELL as on paper with the same attached document from an email; I even got the same...
  20. Puerto Rico school feedback?

I wish that were true, but I really think it's simply disorganization combined with the fact that even the academic world on the island operates mostly en español. Answering relatively complex sets of questions in English to frantic gringos is probab...
  21. Puerto Rico school feedback?

I understand you pain. I have a similar academic background. My answer to them regarding the "Dean letter" was simply, "I cannot do that." I wrote a page long email to the director of admissions at Metro - asking why they needed ANOTHER copy of a tra...
  22. Puerto Rico school feedback?

I'm a french-canadian american born on PR back in the day but raised in California/Pennsylvania and I understand your concerns. Having spoken French in highschool myself (un peu) and having learned a bit more conversational Spanish recently, I believ...
  23. Puerto Rico school feedback?

Oh, Yes and please let us know what you find out about the accredidation from Metro - when they get back to you in 2014. My Dad warned me of the Island's bureaucratic mentality, but I had hoped that it changed a bit since I was little gringito runnin...
  24. Puerto Rico school feedback?

Ok, I'm beyond frustration with this school even though I love the idea of earning my BSN in SJ. I can't begin to describe the difficulty in getting ahold of ANYONE there - with the exception of the director of English trimester program. I too receiv...
  25. What stereotypes should I expect?

Well calling your prospective-self a "male nurse" might be the first one . I believe it also depends a bit on your specialty and geography. Being a male and a nurse in a hospital E.D. in Los Angeles or on a US Naval Ship = not so rare.
