  1. Discrimination to Male Nurses is really morale downing not to mention that there is also discrimination to Board Ratings. I still remember what my older brother who graduated from Nursing in 1990 said that during those times Hospitals will be the one calling up newly graduated nurses and luring them with lucrative offers to work at their institution. Also hear this guys requirements are only to follow upon hiring, Male/Female, and applicants are only asked if you passed the Board Exams and that's good enough for the Now-Corrupt-Hospital Management. Sigh.. Those days are gone.. I do agree with john83 that the government should quickly pass a bill that will protect us Male Nurses from unjust treatment and discrimination. They should also include a bill waving board ratings replacing them with certificates if you passed or failed the exams. That will help better protect not just Male Nurses but also Female Nurses alike.

Guys you need to do a follow-up call in able for them to check the status of your application. Maybe it's because of the reason that they are crammed with tons of applications. I called them up earlier this morning to follow-up my application which I have submitted last week. They've told me that my application was already approved and I will be included in the next set of training which will be scheduled on August since the latest batch already started training last June 6. "Ymcantiquera" there's no need for you to buy a new uniform for the training. I was told that you can use your old duty uniforms back at college for the program. We will also utilize our PRC ID's by putting it in an ID Holder and wearing them while on duty. In case you still want to buy new uniforms you can buy ready-made ones at Bangbang which is located in Tayuman Station of the LRT. I don't have a backer just in case anyone is wondering. Good Luck.
  3. Congratulations to our NEWLY EMPLOYED NURSES!! Hooray!!
  4. Nope. I'm already past the age limit. I personally called them twice to verify it and there is really an age limit requirement. Just want to share some info and hope it helps someone. As a fellow Nurse I feel for you guys.
  5. It is located in "46 P. Sanchez St. Sta Mesa" if you're coming from Manila just take an FX going to Megamall either on Recto Ave or Magsaysay Ave. and ask the driver to drop you off Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Last time I checked they are still hiring but you may never know. Better hurry and give them a call. Goodluck!
  6. For younger guys out there that is still looking for a nursing job try your luck at Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital. They have openings for Staff Nurses, Trainees, and Volunteer Nurses alike. The sad thing is that they only accept applicants with an age limit of not more than 25 years old. Very very sad indeed specially for second coursers. Well good luck for those who will try!
  7. Whew. Thanks for the info. Does somebody know the requirements for the training? Who should I address the Letter of Intent for? And can somebody please provide AFPMC's Contact Number. Tnx!

Guys I just went to Ospital Ng Maynila earlier this Morning. It's true that they are still accepting Volunteer Nurses. And the good thing is that it is FREE, No charges whatsoever. It's a 2 month volunteer program after which you will take the exam and if you passed and based on your performance you will be hired as a Staff Nurse. They will also issue certificates for the program. Here' an updated list of things you need to submit: 1. Letter of Intent addressed to Dr. Fidel C. Chua Hospital Director Thru: Mrs. Asuncion C. Balisado Chief Nurse 2. PRC ID (Photocopied) 3. Credentials (Photocopy) Hope all of us will make it. Hurry up cause 3 days from now another batch of graduates will be taking the board exams. Another set of competition for the hospital positions guys. GOD BLESS.
  9. Guys is it true that you will need a board rating average of 80% or above to qualify for their exams? I really want to try my luck in AFPMC but if this is really the case then kudos to my aspiration. Prompt reply will be highly appreciated. Oh and please post the hospital requirements and their contact number. Thanks!
  10. I actually called and walked in to the said hospital. They're accepting applicants for "MANPOWER POOLING" only since they are in freeze hiring already. Oh and just one more thing, when you decide to go there don't ever and I mean EVER ask the guards for the HR location. Just go straight and ask from any personnel inside except the guards. The GUARDIA SIBIL idiots will not let you go to the HR department and will ask you to leave the application docs to them and they will be the one to bring it to the HR office. I doubt their sincerity and they are quite arrogant. So DON'T and goodluck.
  11. Precisely! And that would just give schools a reason to milk students fro bigger profits.
  12. Dude you're not alone. Mine was 76% Flat. Just a notch above your score. Hahaha!! Well at least I passed on my first take. I hope i do better in other Nursing Examinations. I'm planning to take the Singapore Boards after gaining enough experience here in our country.
  13. In my opinion the Government and it's so called educational department CHED is trying to sugar coat the fact that Nurses are "NOT" so in demand anymore. They should not waste their precious time and our precious tax funds with this kinds of silly ideas. What they should do is to fix the present situation of Nurses which is "UNEMPLOYMENT". Since the demand for nurses abroad soared back in the '80s, a lot of "unproductive" Nursing Schools kept on sprouting rapidly. CHED should focus their attention on leveling these schools and stop their faulty advertisements that Nursing are still very "IN-DEMAND". Sure other countries are still hiring Nurses but with EXPERIENCE. Maybe if the present situation of Nursing here in our Country is finally regulated, maybe then Hospitals will start hiring "STAFF NURSES" with good compensation of course and stop their Exploitation-like-activities. :angryfire
  14. Well I don't know what to feel right now after learning that there's a lot of me to go around (registered and without a job). I am a second courser with a degree in Computer Science and I also worked for several companies including Convergys before opting to study Nursing full time for thoughts of greener pastures. I passed the board exams last December 2008 but until now I am unemployed. I am reconsidering to go back to my previous work but I am a bit confused at the moment if it is the right thing to do or not. I am not getting any younger and year after year there's an influx of Nursing Graduates. Reality bites that we need hospital experience to work abroad but we can not get any since the country are so "overcrowded" with Nurses and local hospitals are taking this chance to exploit us RN's. I hope someone from this thread will be able to provide some useful work information for us Job Seekers. Thanks for reading my sentiments. :beercuphe
