I feel sure she knows she has it, and she is likely embarassed enough already. Just ignore it, and hope it resolves. Living with bowel problems is no fun. Embarassing her further at work by calling attention to an obvious problem could cause hurt fee...
I ate broccoli with my lunch....in the afternoon I pulled an elderly unresponsive man up in the bed and accidentally passed gas when I exerted myself moving him. Right after that the charge nurse walked in. She helped me finish moving him and when we...

I graduated in '99. I had 2 days of orientation. I worked 2 weekends a month for 2 months at a LTC facility. I was both thrown to the wolves and eaten alive. I was miserable. I realize it is completely MY FAULT for not starting at a more reputable pl...

When I had my last baby my nurse asked me if I minded a student. I said no I do not mind. Then a very timid instructor came in and asked me if I minded having a nursing student. Again I said no I do not mind. She then looked pointedly at me and said ...
I am in a refresher program that is a 90 minute drive (on good traffic days) from my home. I have applied for a job in that same area too. It is WO schedule, and the pay is so much more than what local hospitals pay that I am going to drive. I think ...
I have no doubt that she was hurting. He was such an awful man. I was very young, ignorant, and powerless. I did discuss this with my clinical instructor. Another student that was in the clinic that day backed me up. She did nothing, b/c she didn't w...
In clinicals I spent one day at an OBGYN clinic in a very poor area of Mississippi. I was observation only. The doc was foreign (sorry, can't remember country of origin) and was very demeaning to every pt we saw. I have no idea why he chose to be an...
Check with all of them - I am in AR, but I found a hospital based refresher course that is only $325. When you complete it you are offered a job there, but not required to work there at all. Very reasonable amount of $ IMO. I start mine next week. Go...
Despite all my posts asking about AR Childrens I changed my plans. I will soon start the refresher course offered at St Vincent's. Has anyone here done this? I realize I will be offered a job in med-surg when the course is over. What are the ratios t...
They are mandatory in most hospitals & nursing homes here. Within 6 hours of getting one I get sick. EVERY.TIME. I think it should be my choice. I can get over the regular flu shortly. After taking the flu shot I am generally sick for 2-3 weeks.
The last time one of my boys was in the hospital I took a little basket full of pocket sized hand creams to the desk and left it. I made sure there were plenty to go around. It went over very well.

THANKS! I noticed in the job listings that day care workers were needed for 8-5 & 8-8 shifts. I was wondering how in the world you could use the daycare if you worked 7-3 or 8-4. I know a lot of hospital daycares are really only usable by managem...
