I received my PN certificate at age 54, turned 55 a month later when I passed my NCLEX-PN. I start my ADN classes in August. I'd say that, if you really want to do it, 46 isn't too old.

In my own situation, I'd jump on the weekend shift. My only caveat would be what happens if you start RN classes. If you have a Monday morning class, say at 8 am and you've got that 1 hour drive......
