My wife and I have been doing P90X for about a month now...I think it is a great workout. I would recommend anyone doing the program to get military fit should give themself an occasional PT test though to make sure they are progressing in those even...
I have heard this from others as well. They are constantly changing what they offer in accordance with their needs. Just be sure to get it in writing! best of luck, LA40 P.S. I hope your recruiter is not misrepresenting the programs... there is a big...
That seems to be about right. Just keep in mind that the bonuses are all subject to availability and that changes regularly, so you will need to talk to your recruiter to see what the most current options are (the respective websites are not always u...
Also don't forget that the entitlements of BAS and BAH are tax free... so as an O1 you could be getting $1200-$1500 tax free dollars each month. That could easily add up to an additional $5000 of per year in tax savings (money in your pocket that civ...

Glad to see your input on this. Most people have an idea of deployments and what that might mean to a family, but many do not understand the many other demands of military life that can keep one or both spouses (dual military) away from home... worki...

Agree with previous two posts. Understand that there have been few if any new RN slots open since around November of 2009. That puts an entire year worth of applicants "competing" for however many slots open up in October this year. Chances are your ...

I can't say much about Ft. Irwin as a duty station, but it gives me shudders when I remember time spent there at the National Training Center...of course that was all field training. Sorry I can't be more help. LA40

Thanks for the response, and sorry for taking so long to update. Basically, everything that Justcause stated is what i found out (finally) from my recruiter. I am still planning on going NCP, and have everything in my packet ready to go before the b...

I think the point that was being made is that, even though you may have had a poor experience in your first duty station, that is a reflection on a single incidence, due to individuals, NOT a reflection on the Corps as a whole. Discretion in one's ch...

Welcome Cindy! I would suggest that your best bet is to talk directly with an AMEDD Recruiter, as commissioning programs and availability are changing constantly. As of right now, I believe that the cut off ages is 42 (assuming you have no prior mili...
Well, as some of you may know, I have been lurking around this forum for quite a while now. I have finally decided that The ANCP is the best route of entry for me and am in the process of completing my packet now. I originally planned to go direct co...

Another oldie here... I am 38 also and will be 41 when I finish my BSN. Amazingly I find that I am more prepared than most of the younger students in my program, and in better physical condition too! Age is NOT a factor... if you prepare yourself, yo...

get your BSN first! Trust me, it can be very difficult to get back to school once you are out for a while...before you know it, life happens. I am a second year BSN student now, and at 38, it is tough to juggle all the responsibilities of family and ...

Reviving this topic for a different question related to the Loan Repayment Program. I am in the process of applying for the Army Nurse Candidate Program, and as such, do not qualify for the Loan Repayment Program as part of my contract. However, I ha...

It will be interesting to see how the Army responds in a few years when NP will be a doctorate level entry...I am sure that will decrease the supply of NPs.

Last I checked, the Army Reserves still commissions ADNs under the conditions stated previously. Although I hear that they only fill a small portion of their allotted RNs with ADNs, and those slots fill up fast... talk to your recruiter for most curr...

You are not too old! I am 38 now and still a sophomore in my BSN program. I believe the age cut off for the Army is still 42 at time of commissioning, though they may not be granting age wavers right now if you are over that age when you get your lic...

I only had one picture broken in 6 years of moves in Army, including a tour in Germany. But have also heard the horror stories that others have had. Like was mentioned... take pictures of everything, and do not ship anything that you can not replace....

I do not know about the Navy but as a Army Reserve Nurse with an ADN, you are not able to be promoted past Captain (O-3) until you gain your BSN. Perhaps this is what you are in reference to?
