Don't know if this is legal or not....

Ive come to the conclusion that none of these companies care about there employees they only care about money. My facility has also gone through 3 dsd 4 dons and 3 administrators and the one we have now is fire and suspension happy. Good luck I hope things get better.

nurses not giving meds at correct times

I work the day shift in Ltc and I wish I had time to get all my meds out in time. i have 28 res. My shift starts at 7 I usually dont get startsd until 730 and I HAVE TO GO TO THE DINING ROOM SO i ONLY GET A FEW MEDS IN befor than.Than I dont get back on my way until 815. It takes until 1130 or noon to get our morning meds past and Im a new nurse [8 months] but this is how long it takes all the nurses. Our facility is ridiculously busy and short staffed, well not according to the administrator or don but it is. But if I could I would get my meds out on time because when you dont it messes up the noon meds that need to be given. I hpoe you get some help because I dont think all those meds should be given together theres a reason why the order is the way it is. I had a coworker tell me to mix the morning and noon meds together and i thought that was weird.

    med error questions and more

At my facility your suppose to circle the med and write on the back med refused offered x3 without effect if the res refuses 3 times in a row the dr is suppose to be called. If the med is just not available for whatever reason were not suppose to write it on the mar, which is stupid because according to the state your not suppose to sign if it wasnt given.

    I just got suspended

I did and told him there were other nurses signing for meds that were never even ordered, he just said that he has to investigate. He had the nerve to say passing meds is easy just pour pass and sign. A few weeks ago I was written up for having to many gaps, now I have none but the state is coming and I think there trying to use me as an example. Dont get me wrong I take full respnsibility for the med error I made. I thought the abt was dcd and put in with the dcd meds, But I wasnt paying attention when I was signing I was so busy trying not to have any gaps, so even though the med was not in the narc drawer it was there with the pills in it but they were signed for. When this lady was first started on abt it was flagyl and avelox, the avelox was dcd and a new order for a higher dose was given, This is why I put it with the dcd meds, but I overlooked the new order somehow but was signing so I know how it looks to them, even though they know I would never intentially not give a med that was ordered and there. Any way, My point is that there have been plenty of the same kind of errors basically but they are fixed and covered up. I just feel like there doing this to show the state there working on fixing the problem, even though its been there since I was a cna. They are due for survey any time now. I told them that if Im being suspended than they should suspend everyone because all the nurses at my facility do this because it so crazy there you literally dont have time to fix all the things that need fixing. We dont get done passing am meds until 12, its ridiculous. And thats only when you dont have to go to the dining room. So, needless to say Im hoping to find another job befor they call me on Mon. I should have left along time ago. Sorry I made this kind of long Thanks for your reply I appreciate it.

    med error questions and more

hey, calgirl here. Have a quick med error question, actually i have two. First does your facility have to report every med error to the state? Can you lose your license with one med error? I guess I have three. What is usually the protocol if you have a missing med and the pharmacy doesnt deliver it until the next day, you did not give the med so you shouldnt sign for it rite? At my facility they want all gaps filled, which of course a majrity of the meds are given and theres a gap for whatever reason, but sometimes the med is not there, but if you dont sign than you get in trouble for having a gap. I am so distraught over this whole ordeal. And I have made my decision, fired or not Im getting another job, starting over. I will take my knowledge and what I have learned from my mistakes and I will not let this happen again. I dont care if i am there until midnight[i work days] if thats what it takes.Sorry to write a whole other page but i really need to get this out. Thanks for listening, if anyone is calgirl123

    I just got suspended

Hello, its me again calgirl123. Well I may not have to make a decision to leave my nursing home because I just got suspended. I was signing for a med that was not given, I overlooked it somehow and thought it was d/cd, I honestly don't know how I missed something like that. The problem I have is there is numerous med errors just like this happening everyday at this place, whether it is meds that are signed for like they were given, but were never even ordered. Or med that are signed for but were never even ordered or given. These things are found on a daily basis.I can admit my mistake and I am horrified about it, But i am the only one who is being suspended for this same type of error. I have found so many instances just like this and had to fix them.. I don't know if I will be fired or not. I don't really care about this job, I only care about my license. I don't want to lose it. I am trying very hard to be a good nurse and I never thought i would have this hard of a time. Wow:yeah:I just got a call from a nursing home rite by my house that I applied to a while ago. God is amazing :redbeathe Anyway, I am very disappointed about all of this and I cant wait to start fresh, I may just quit before I go back. I just want to be professional about it I donut want to just not show up. Wish me luck and please new nurses pay close attention to your mar and meds. Please pray for me.:redpinkhe
