Stupid Nurse Tricks (Or How To Look Incredibly Stupid)

In the midst of intubating a pt in the ICU, a nurse assisting with pushing drugs and trying to quickly push the air bubble out of a saline syringe, managed to squirt saline directly in the RT's face! Yep, that was me and I still laugh about it til this day (probably the only intubation that pretty much everyone was laughing during).

    what color is your scrub-achute?

The nurses where I work wear ceil blue and/or white. I like having them tell me what color to wear because it makes getting ready for work in the morning (or night) a no-brainer. Downside is when/if I decide to work with another hospital, I will be stuck with only these ceil blue & white scrubs.

Night shifters - are you noctural all the time?

So any suggestions for someone working a day/ night rotation? Someone being me. I will be working 3 nights one week then 3 days the next, so on and so on. Any suggestions will be extremely appreciated.

    So,which states ARE hiring Nurses?

    South Carolina
  5. If the cost of living was about 1/2 it is now I may consider working for $8.50/ hour. Otherwise, I'm sure there is something less stressful and less laborious I could do for the same amount of money. So the answer is no I would not work as a nurse for $8.50/hour.

    Tidewater Community College application question....

I just finished the nursing program at TCC actually. If you do get accepted, I envy you because you get to go to the new campus Anyway, I hand-delivered my application to Ms. B herself in Feb 07 and I got a letter sent out in May 07 that I was accepted but I had to take Math 03 I think it is. Basically it's a nursing math class that everyone has to take because nobody passes the nursing math test. Anyway, I did not get all A's in my prereqs. I got a C in Micro, a B in BIO 141, an A in 142, etc. I think my GPA was around 3.5 (if that) when I applied. I wouldn't worry too much because they base their selections on a cumulative points system and not so much your GPA, which 3.2 is not bad anyway. Also, they have been really busy with relocating and all so if I were you I would just go ahead up there to the nursing office and try to speak to someone in person. Just try not to get discouraged and good luck!!!

Which is the first priority physiologic needs or safety?

The pt in question is schizophrenic and there was nothing said about him/ her needing oxygen or have difficulty breathing.

Which is the first priority physiologic needs or safety?

I say Safety comes first in this situation. Think about your license.

Okay, so nevermind what I said before about the holiday. Pearsonvue "Trick". Is this TRUE? Does it Work Every Time?

I took my test Saturday too and I was actually thinking we would not be able to get our quick-results until Thursday because of the holiday so I hope you're right because I am ready to know for sure.

Please help with a math problem

That's weird. Maybe that's a typo. Adding 80ml seems like it would make it 2/3 strength.

Please help with a math problem

I think you would take 240 and divide that by 4 which would be 60 so you would add 60ml of water to make it 3/4 strength. Maybe not though...

Pearsonvue "Trick". Is this TRUE? Does it Work Every Time?

Yes, I got the pop-up too but I am like 99% sure that there is no way I passed. So I wanted to know if anyone else had experience with taking the NCLEX on a Saturday and if the Pearsonvue trick worked for them. Did you take it today?

    Are my classmates delusional??

I would love to see the look on their faces when they are actually expected to do that stuff! They are in la-la land and they obviously have a glamourized ideal of what an RN is (or does). Just sit back and enjoy the show if you are so lucky to get clinicals with one of them!
