  1. Wedding rings that sit "high" up vs. gloves

Not sure what to say about your comment about your patients. Not to change the subject....
  2. Laundry HELP for stained lab coat

I had the same thing happen nearing the end of my clinicals. I cut the stain out and ironed on a white swatch underneath the cut. You know, the patch kit things? It was only noticed by me ( I looked at it all the time... near my collar, the pockets.....
  3. Wedding rings that sit "high" up vs. gloves

Goodness, If I based my life and my love and marriage so completely on a piece of metal, I'd be, well, I can't put it to words. I think I'd be a material person. The love we share wraps around our family, not my finger.
  4. Wedding rings that sit "high" up vs. gloves

Leave them home. I know I'm married.
  5. Making pretend??

I always took it as their defense mechanism kicking in as if they were thinking, " You care for him in ways we have not done." I overlook them and tend to my patient. In the end, everyone understands and perhaps it comes out well when they go home.
  6. Workload split between RNs/CNAs

    As always, Tweety, wonderful words.
  7. Ok, need to ask this question about "gifts"

I'd give it to her in person, perhaps in front of all her peers. That would be a great perk for her.
  8. After graduation present.......

I took my sister to Kauai. Wonderful support she gave me.
  9. Day sleepers..........

I wear an eyemask. Cheap, comfy and DARK!. I also have dark drapes in my room which helps when I wake up to use the bathroom or to get a drink. Thus, no blinding white light.
  10. I hear your point. I make it my point to take those antimicrobial wipes with me in my patient's rooms when I go in and do my own housecleaning. We get to talk, I can see what supplies they have, throw out undated things and know that while housekeepi...
  11. What about those signs in residents rooms

There's been talk about different kinds of signs: A picture of a fish = fluid restriction. A picture of Niagara Falls... well, I'm sure you get the drift. Might work.
  12. Should BSNs be paid more?

But of course they should!!!! They, the BSN nurses, label their IV tubing in such a fashionable manner. Give me a break with this nonsense!!!
  13. Wedding rings that sit "high" up vs. gloves

    Sorry, meant to say married...
  14. Wedding rings that sit "high" up vs. gloves

Umm, you know you are maried. Leave them at home when you work.
  15. BSN vs ADN Education?????

  18. why are cna's treated like they are stupid and replaceable?

Nurses do this too. People in ALL professions do this. Sad, but true.
  19. why are cna's treated like they are stupid and replaceable?

Not all nurses treat CNA's this way. Shame on her. The CNA's I work with are wonderful and we let them know it all the time. I work in a hospital. Together, we make our patient's comfort and care the best it can be. Shame on the nurse you wrote about...
  20. rectal foley???

We use Zassi tubes as well. They have a larger, flexible bore to collect liquid stools and are kept in place by inflating a doughnut shaped (soft and small) balloon inside the rectal vault. The stool is collected in a bag similar to the urinary bags....
  21. Low percentage rate student loans and working and saving a lot before school started. I also got rid of my cell phone, cable and rarely went out to eat (more often if someone else was buying!). I survived without all these things while in school. I ...
  22. What would you think...

I don't like it either. Most people don't. I wouldn't worry about it. Be well!
  23. Don't laugh, but... what if I throw up??

With really smelly situations, try breathing through your mouth...
  24. does working in ER make you want motorcylehelmets mandatory

Doesn't matter where I work... or, where I ride. Helmets, always.
  25. What field of nursing would you NEVER consider working?

I love working on my burn unit! When it comes to pain, Vitamin M (morphine) and Vitamin A (Ativan) work wonders.
