  1. Coworker was fired yesterday.

You're a better person than I Judy Ann! If I were the patient or the patient's family, I certainly would have a hard time forgiving or "understanding" this nurse. In fact, I'd have a hard time not...
  2. Coworker was fired yesterday.

Just wanted to add that I think it's great that you're doing some self-reflection about how you and your co-workers treated her socially, but it's still no excuse for her cruel
  3. Coworker was fired yesterday.

Cotjockey, I can't help but sit here a bit bewildered and disturbed that you are more concerned for your "poor co-worker" than you seem to be about the poor patients and families that had to deal w/...
  4. Coworker was fired yesterday.

Cotjockey, after what I've read in your post about this nurse...I would NEVER want her taking care of one of my loved ones and saying any of those things to them... Would you??? I think you ABSOLUTELY...

  6. B12 Injections - Teach the Family?

I see your point Jay-Jay, but if the person is going to be on B12 injections for life, that's a different story. And it depends on the comfort/skill level of the person you're teaching
  7. Wow, good for you! Congrats on the new position. Did you go to school here in CHicago
  8. Hi fellow Chicagoan and welcome to allnurses. Where are you
  9. B12 Injections - Teach the Family?

When i worked at an endocrine clinic, we always gave B12 injections SC...and I learned in school to give it IM. MUCH easier for a patient or family to learn SC
  10. How do you wake up in the am

Exercise and melatonin have been a godsend for me. The melatonin doesn't "knock you out" like a sleeping pill does, it just naturally helps to "reset" you're body's sleep schedule back to normal....

  17. Can't give a friend an aspirin at home?

That is absurd. If they're an adult, they ask you if you have aspirin, you do, they want it, you give it to them. Of course as a nurse you'll find yourself asking: Do you have any allergies to...
  18. Top Ten Things You Don't Want to Hear During Surgery

  19. Nrsg. Abbreviations ????

Colleen, I 'm not sure what SRSB is off the top of my head either, but you could try posting this in the rehab forum as these sound like orders rehab nurses might typically encounter. Good
  20. Chronic Tardiness

I'll admit, I've had trouble w/ chronic tardiness in the past. It's not professional and it's disrespectful. However, at least in my case, it had nothing to do w/ arrogance or passive-aggressive...

    Point
  22. Prozac friends?

Gotta say, this comment really bugs me. SSRIs are NOT some sort of recreational "candy" or something for people who do not suffer (and we do suffer if not treated) from depression "to try" just for...
  23. Christ Medical Center/Advocate Health

Since my experiences were specifically w/ LGH I shouldn't overgeneralize...I just find all the Advocate mission stuff hard to swallow...especially when I didn't see it being carried out where I...
  24. Christ Medical Center/Advocate Health

If you'd like I would be more than happy to share the crappy experiences I've encountered working for the Almighty Advocate system...LGH specifically. They love to tout the "One of the nation's top...
  25. The Circumcision Discussion

Exactly what I was wondering! Are there alot of adult "crewnecks" out there wishing were still "turtlenecks?" On a more serious note, I don't have children yet, but this thread has brought up some...
