    Losing respect for nursing students

I don't want it say that it's generational. I'll say that it's more societal. When we speak of traditional nursing students, we are technically speaking about 18-22 year olds, who have not been in...

    Not Excited About Becoming FNP

And that's not a terrible thing. Going to school while having kids is not fun. It's definitely not impossible, but it's not fun

    Can Anyone Help Me?

Not letting anyone else touch, feed, diaper, or (God forbid) babysit your child. Including closes family and friends (Grandparents and fathers). I know way too many people like this. No one can care...

School Application asking if I am pregnant- I am- What should I do?

I've always been a fan of the truth. If you think they are going to prevent you from taking classes because you are, that can't really happen. If you tell them when you start, they may be suspicious...
  5. My current school got their accreditation. They made a couple of suggestions, but on the website it shows the visit date, with the actual reaccreditation date being 3 months later (they gave us the...
  6. I know that's what it means. I was kind of saying that facetiously, (and that the rumor I heard must be true). But what do you mean by appeal? Completely lost accreditation? Or did not receive...
  7. Based in the name of your school (as you wrote it) and not knowing what state, i could not find it here. But take a look for yourself: http://www.nlnac.org/forms/directory_search.htm I'm not sure...

    Can't afford nursing school

While I do agree with most of what you're saying, I'm not sure what you mean by a real license? To clarify, the license is granted by the state BON, not the school. Maybe the degree is bogus (in...

    Nurse educator or NP?

Agreed, we need more info. How long have you been a nurse? If the answer is 'not that long', I'd wait a bit, and really see what you like. Don't go the NP route because that's what everyone else is...

What can I do with my BSN?

Congratulations (almost) on your BSN! It's interesting to see a thread like this, someone asking what will they do with their BSN. But now, I get it. After 20 years, you should be entitled to more...

    Can't afford nursing school

You, and everyone else who is up to their necks in student loan debt. And this is exactly what these for-profit schools are banking on. I worked for a for-profit school, and it broke my heart so see...
  12. To answer your question, no. They can still take NCLEX. there are other schools out there that are not NLNAC accredited and students go on to take NCLEX. A d you can still go on for higher degrees....

    So we can't wear clogs...

Well, since you brought it up (I happened upon this a few days ago)

    So ridiculous.

You're still dodging the real issue (and it sounds like your patient is too). However, not all of our patients are very savvy about consequences, hence the reason many of them get Into this mess. If...

    Not Excited About Becoming FNP

I am really enjoying this thread. As an AD turned BSN turned MS, hoping to turn PhD, I would never discourage anyone from pursuing higher education. However, I feel there is way too much pressure to...

Whoa, looks like my iPad had a mind of its own there!!! Posters, posters, posters!!! Time to edit that

    So ridiculous.

Of course, you CAN. But if something already exists, it is more important than something that MAY (or may not) exist. Like many many test questions you will encounter, it's. it wrong, it's just not...

    Experienced Nurse Seeking Advice

Does anyone in your masters program already teach adjunct? When I was in my MS program, there were people who did. Do you have any clinical groups that come to your unit? If so, talk to the...

Nursing is better than what is out THERE. What do you think?

What bothers me about this cartoon (and there's definitely some truth to the cartoon) is the mentality of "I'll go to nursing school, because its better than being a waitress". Yes, it IS. But, why do...

Why do some nurses use their titles as a big ego boost?

I call myself a nurse. Not an RN, not a registered nurse, not an RN, MS. Personally, when I hear someone call themselves a nurse,I assume they are an RN. LPNs are not as common in my area, there are...

    So we can't wear clogs...

So did I, when I wore them! I'd always look around to see if anyone noticed

I got accepted to molloy college fall 13.

While Brooklyn is not very far, the commute can be a bit painful. You'd be taking the belt Pky, which literally always has traffic on it . I went to Molloy years ago, and lived in a few different...

    So ridiculous.

With all due respect, its Not so ridiculous. I call these diagnoses the "cheap" ones; add risk for falls, impaired mobility and risk for infection to the list. Are they important? Sure. Are they...

Nursing school claims to not be able to teach prioritization.

As a professor (and a former nursing student, albeit many years ago), I will echo some of the responses here, about how much of what you are going through is very typical. I challenge you to find one...
