  1. I love most colloquials too!esp. when they save 4-5 other words from being said!. arkansas ppl say "fixing on gettin sick" or "fixin on rainin"
  2. that's a colloquial. dictionary ,it's frustrated .lol ,sue
  3. flustrated? you're kidding,right? lol
  4. the strippers have this rule ,or the management only sells bottles? don't think I understand. and can't u still put ghb in a bottle, eventually? sue
  5. It seems to me that a lot of republicans don't participate in voter polls,(which is why so many turn out unexpected winners for the position of whatever, esp president) I'm for mc cain/ paulin
  6. Knlck on wood, but my ltc facilitiy feels that res's loved ones feel more comfortable seeing the same faces all the time. The average age of nurses is is 50 ish, most have been ther at least 10 yrs. Also, they know that when family members are well aquainted w/ nurses they are comfortable with:) , they are less upset, if a mistake is made, which we all know the worse case scenario on that!
  7. I don't get the flu shots,as I always get sick ,flu like , after. I have only had the flu once, prior to having taken them at all. I'm told by don I simply get a different flu after.Every time? I think I may be reacting to something else in the vaccine, thimerisol?
  8. californiaLVN;It's like you said, shouldn't I be starting to settle, relax, then retire?Instead of doing all this rn studying. do you feel it's unfair to have to work so hard, so long spend so much to be an Rn when in some ways you feel ,as a good LVN you shouldnjust have to take a few tests, maybe get grandfathered in? I could be you talking. I'm 58, & started classes. Now they want me to basically start all ove,cuz I've been in ltc too long(away from hosp skills & knowledge , yet 1/2 the time I'm advising RN's on how to do such & such , how to talk to dr's, what to tell them what you want, plus monitoring cnas etc. Also are you thinking will I ever recoup the money i've spent on all this education? will I throw out my back, or have a heart attack next month? Am I close/sue
  9. btw, when u do call/page the dr's and they call back pretty quickly, always thank them for getting back to you so soon, they seem to appreciate his , and may be more attentive to your perceived needs! sue
  10. I'm thinking different hosp asap, butdefinately document all you can from there(present hosp)Myprayers are w/ you! sue
  11. lvnandmom: mea culpa on spelt! never knew it sould be spelled 2 ways! Also, I figured prefect was a typo, just spoofin ya! sue
  12. Ivan, you meant spelled, and perfect, right?(smiley face) sue
  13. I really feel for you! maybe the daughter will apologize to you next time she sees you. Hey! It could happen!
  14. Is it possible the cna u sent over to the other unit took a wrong turn(like out for a smoke )before going to other unit? You really don't know when she got there.
  15. suespets replied to nbrody's topic in General Nursing
I think i'd consider it difficult if you want to learn the material, retain it & utilize it in the future, which imho one does, to be an effective nurse. Or, it's not so difficult if you want to just memorize for a good grade, then remember much, much less of it for the future,or to be able to apply it.! sue
  16. jlmb214; I return to work tues 8 / 12 will see about them,let u know! sue
  17. you mean they talked a gb into exiting out of a uterus?
  18. You can agree, or distract. or say "you remember me I'm ----. I'm always here noc's!!!!,keep talking, try shoulder touch, as your talking, etc.Do you want a drink or ----- some times anything you say , distraction(that has nothing to do with what was said, is helpful). Does she play cards(or think she can,or whatever) friendly gesture, etc. always works for me(well, 90 % of the time)& no ,it's not in the books!
  19. You're kidding,right?
  20. we have some stashed at work, no one uses.Ill ask my don if I can have them for you,(if they are still there. sue
  21. btw, It's misspell(even though it looks funny!) sue
  22. so, maybe 'y' is a vowel in a word whereupon it is the ist & not the latter y in a word?Bigger question for me ,is when is 'y' not used as a vowel? sue
  23. You'd think if one can use 'a' before user(because the 'u' sounds like 'y',) one could say an rn because the sound or the 'r' sounds like a vowel. besides, some words are just not fluent sounding, are gutteral sounding, where they needn't be,just more difficult to say. I had some friends iwho went to a different grade school than I, who had learned the rule re: vowels, a e i o u & sometimes y & w. I don't know when those 'times' were though;Don't think thwy did either as I recall.
  24. MassEd;Funny, I remember w/ my last child labor, looking at the window at one point,& thinking jumping out would end the pain;I actually pulled my blanket off to get out of bed to jump, then ,becoming rational, I plopped my head back on the bed & whimpered! I believe there should be a name for this labor psychosis! sue
