  1. Interviewing an Emergency Nurse

What kind of emergency nursing certificate is this? Are you in the US?
  2. Made a child with cancer cry.

Having cancer or any other illness isn't a free-pass to be rude or abusive whether a child or an adult. I could understand if he cried because he didn't feel like putting his toys away but actively chucking them at you is a whole 'nother thing. Bad b...
  3. A day in the life of an ambulatory care nurse

    .....
  4. I want to throat-punch my co-worker

OMG! All this time I thought her name was CracklinKAREN! Jeez I need to get my eyes checked.
  5. Adenosine administration

You need to check if your facility considers ACLS a protocol. Not all hospitals do.
  6. I have no idea what kind of nurse i should be

    Nope!
  7. I want to throat-punch my co-worker

I don't know Ruby. Normally I'm all over people who get offended by the least little thing and start yelling "NETY" and "bullying" but there's something about this situation that rings differently. My sense is that the person who was encroaching on t...
  8. How badly do you want to stay at this job because I see two courses of action? And from the wording of the PIP yes they are gunning for you. This is what's called a paper trail. If you want to keep the job I agree with the other poster. Contact your ...
  9. If you wear Danskos.... How often do you replace shoes?

My Sanitas were like that. They are virtually identical. I sized up and that fixed the issue. Just make sure they aren't sloppy big. That's how people roll their ankles.
  10. Pearsonvue Trick

How would any of us know this? If we answered we'd just be guessing. Unfortunately there isn't anything anybody here can tell you to relieve your anxiety. You're just going to have to wait.
  11. Do RNs get extra pay for working with students?

Will you come be a student with me?
  12. My Nursing Instructor Is making clinical a nightmare

I think many of us have been in the same place including myself. Just get through it and let it go. I disagree with talking to anybody about it. Unless you want to open up a can of worms which may have long lasting affects on you. I assure you the sc...
  13. Do RNs get extra pay for working with students?

Are they not on the floor with you?!!!
  14. Males considering nursing?

There are so many offensive statements made by the OP that I am actually struggling to refrain from going off on him.
  15. Placed on administrative leave, reason unknown

Just for clarification the term is "employment at will". "Right to work" has to do with union jobs as in having the right to do the job without joining the union.
  16. Do RNs get extra pay for working with students?

Then I guess I'll have to pay back to the clinical instructors because that's who taught me. I rarely had contact with the floor nurse. As to the second bolded there are no on-line pre-licensure progrrams that do not require clinicals. If you are spe...
  17. Mandatory flu vaccines

Got mine yesterday and I think I did. At least that's my excuse. It's my story and I'm sticking to it.
  18. Do RNs get extra pay for working with students?

My instructors taught me. You know, the ones who were actually getting paid to do so.
  19. rescue breathing on the toilet?

I agree with this one and I'm betting the act of opening the airway would have resulted in immediate return of respirations. Seizures are funny things and can be game changers. Many patients stop breathing during them and for a very short period imme...
  20. First on scene to car wreck

I think the issue isn't that the patient was driving in general but that the patient continued to drive while attempting to take nitro. The prudent thing to do was to pull over.
  21. First on scene to car wreck

    I thought the same thing.
  22. First on scene to car wreck

If anybody is interested the American Red Cross offers a first aid course that might be helpful and/or interesting. It certainly covers many things we were never taught in nursing school. CPR, First Aid and AED Certification | Red Cross
  23. First on scene to car wreck

Just to make you feel better this is an urban myth. The Georgia Good Samaritan Law does cover you. College Park Personal Injury Lawyer / Atlanta Car Accident Attorney Personal Injury Attorneys for Car, Truck, Motorcycle and DUI Accident Cases GA Good...
  24. Missed a fracture.

WHAT!!!!! You waited and ENTIRE 20 minutes before you sent her home?! Don't you know she might have DIED!! She was a TRAUMA victim for gosh sakes. What kind of nurse are you? I would have called for a helicopter.
  25. Is it okay to have snacks in my pockets for clinical?

Food is not allowed in patient care areas per OSHA. This includes the nurses station. If your friends had to "sneak" in food then what they were doing was wrong. Students are guests of the facility. Don't break their rules.
