  1. Pharm Question

Okay let's check. You have a patient who has an order for 1000ml in 8 hours. Your tubing has a drop factor of 60drops/ml. At what rate do you set the pump?
  2. Failed Nclex in 75 questions :/ any advice

If this is in response to what I said I never attached an adjective to your failing at 75. There isn't any use in beating yourself up over it. What I did say is that it was an indicator that you need to do something different and I really think it's ...
  3. Adult health Kaplan on

Is "Old-A$$" the next stage after COB?
  4. Adult health Kaplan on

What? This doesn't even make sense.
  5. Pharm Question

    JB your inbox is full
  6. Pharm Question

Don't overthink this. Most pharm math is simple math. Get rid of the distractors (information in the question intended to confuse) and go from there.
  7. Adult health Kaplan on

    Reported!
  8. Pharm Question

Actually, now that I look at it are you sure you posted the question correctly? Because neither of the answers is even close.
  9. Pharm Question

Show us your work and we'll show you where you went wrong. BTW look at your answer. If you are giving 500ml in a 24 hour period how would running it at 625ml/hr be right?
  10. Double Pane Windows?

But it works best if you also wear an aluminum foil hat!
  11. Double Pane Windows?

If you really need to block the light and don't want black-out curtains you can cut a piece of cardboard (the presentation board stuff works well) and attach it to the window frame with Command velcro picture hangers. As an option you can cover the c...
  12. I think that goes without saying. 😉
  13. Failed Nclex in 75 questions :/ any advice

Time for some one on one tutoring I think. Not to put too fine of a point on it but failing at 75 is a pretty clear indicator that you need to do something different. I'm sorry this happened to you. I'm sure it's disheartening.
  14. This^ Also the JC wants hospitals to get rid of the dose range (ie Dilaudid 2-4 mg) which is open to too much variance in practice. It's too subjective from the nursing side and how to implement it is confusing. For example, if you give the patient ...
  15. Do RNs get extra pay for working with students?

Yes you're right. The students complaining on this thread have been extremely rude.
  16. The state made a weird request

Forgive me but is there something detrimental in allowing de-tox patients to have coffee?
  17. I honestly really don't remember much of my pinning. But I sure as heck remember the day I found out my dad had cancer.
  18. Do RNs get extra pay for working with students?

Did you not notice that every single one of us expressed how badly we want to be able to give students the time and attention they need but we just cannot do it because of the demands that are put on us. And then there are those pesky patients that h...
  19. PICC Line: Flushes, But No Blood Return

Interesting because our Bard rep says the complete opposite. I'll have to investigate further.
  20. PICC Line: Flushes, But No Blood Return

We used to do this but have changed that practice to weekly cap changes unless the line flushes or draws sluggishly without any documented increase in line complications. I haven't had much trouble with our current caps but the white ones are notorio...
  21. PICC Line: Flushes, But No Blood Return

Not true and not EBP. You should use only a 10 ml syringe or larger unless you are using a special large bore 5ml syringe to avoid damaging the line. OP were the PICCs ever de-clotted before they were replaced? If they were I agree this patient is pr...
  22. I have a fear of being bullied what should I do?

It doesn't happen any more in nursing than in any other job. It just has name in health care. That being said, you've identified that this is impacting all aspects of your life. You need to seek professional help to get a handle on your fears and ins...
  23. I was just going to mention this. I work at a large University Medical Center and we have recently been discussing this same topic. We will still ask their pain level but are doing away with dose ranges completely.
  24. Interviewing an Emergency Nurse

Okay that makes way more sense to me now because in the US we have a CEN course that requires a certain amount of experience as is rather difficult. Something a new grad should not tackle.
  25. PICC Line: Flushes, But No Blood Return

Here's a real life example of a fibrin tail. Imagine my shock when I found this on the end of a PICC line I had just removed. Shudder!
