Congratulations Happylush!!!!!!!! I'm proud of you!!! I thought it was 24 hours every 2 years? I think the BON would be your best bet to ask your questions to. Best to get it straight from the horse.
You do not have to buy all of the books that EC recommends. In fact, I only bought one (a Potter and Perry Fundamentals book used on half.com). I mostly used this one for CPNE preparation. The rest I used my LPN books for. For instance, if a NC exam ...

I have heard good things about Children's (both Mpls. through Abbott Northwestern Hospital and St. Paul through United Hospital). We had very good experiences there with our son when he was a baby too. Staff there seemed real happy.

Heyyoooo, EC grad here. Just make sure it's an actual EC rep and not a rep from a 3rd party who wants to sell you study systems. A lot of times they act like they are from EC itself. Exactly what I thought. The cost was actually cheaper in the l...

Sounds like your hospital is a bit more employee friendly than most (is not all) of ours around here. I'm glad it was a good move for you. Thanks for posting---- it's interesting to hear how things are done in another area of the country.

I have to disagree with you on that one. I had my EMT-B before having my LPN and there was a WORLD of difference. I don't think the knowledge base is comparable by any means. There are incompetent RNs out there who have graduated from many, many diff...

:rotfl: Sorry to go off topic but this cracked me up. I think a lot of us get pain in the a$$ patients....... I had one who pretended not to speak English and squeezed her eyes shut while I was trying to look at her pupils.

OMG I am so glad that you found us and that you didn't sign with RUE!!! I made that horrible mistake and I will spend the rest of my days pleading with people not to make that same mistake. I could go on and on and on (and have many times in other th...

I'm curious as to where these hospitals are too. I started the EC program with 1 1/2 years of LPN experience under my belt. Granted it was in a neuro clinic, but that experience really helped. I also feel that my years as a CNA way back in the day h...

For the love of God do not go through a 3rd party. They are more expensive (despite what they may try and tell you on the phone) and some of them have the crappiest "study materials" that you could ever imagine. Trust me, I did it and regret it.
One more thing......... regarding the "several" states that don't accept EC graduates.... there aren't several. California doesn't and Illinois and Kansas have some weird rules too, but as far as I know that's it. If North Dakota doesn't that is bran...
Hi Cindy-- First off let me say, good for you! Even though you're no stranger to school, it's a big move. I graduated from EC 2 1/2 years ago and I can't say enough good about the program. Not only was I able to go from LPN to RN without having to go...

Well I have an opinion about RUE :angryfire and if you want to hear all about it, PM me. I've already posted my feelings towards them a million times on this board and other boards so won't waste everyone's time by doing it again. But like I said, fe...
Hi back, Barb! And I agree with Barb..... if you want to get study guides from a 3rd party, head over to Ebay or other EC message boards and get one there. If you sign with a 3rd party you have to pay BIG BUCKS for the whole she-bang, and ...

You do need to take the CLEPs and DANTES at college campuses. There is a listing of which colleges give which exams on the websites. I second everyone's opinion on checking with your school to see which exams they will except for what. I took the soc...
I second everything Laurie said, except I went to the EC CPNE workshop before my CPNE and highly recommend it to anyone who can scrape up the funds to go. I have heard good things about the Chancellor's workshop also though.

No, you certainly aren't the first or last. I was duped long before you were. Ohhh the stories I could tell you about RUE. To be perfectly honest, I don't think there is any way that you can get out of your contract. They are master tricksters........
Spazzy Nurse replied to njmicp1985's topic in Online Learning
Be careful when taking any gen eds that you think you need because a 3rd party (Chancellor's, RUE, College Network, etc) told you that you need it. They may be right, but the final decision is up to EC so wait until they do your transcript review so ...
