  3. venting time

You did the right thing! And so what if mom starting cussing, she should have been escorted out by security. Her outburst is a sign of her guilt.
  4. Residents....

I work in a Level I teaching hospital so I'm used to dealing with residents. I work in the ER and we were getting a trauma 5 minutes out. We all run to the trauma bay and start preparing for a possible chest tube insertion. A second year resident ...

  10. What are your pet peeves?

This one really chaps me: -Any man who comes in the ED with chief complaint of STD, then attempt to hit on me. No, I don't want to go out with you. When I say "I'm married", I hear, "you are not wearing a ring". Then it goes to "sir, you are here ...
  11. Violence in the ER

Hell yes! I have pressed charges against an ETOH'er who was found down at the bus stop by police and then brought to our facility to "sober up". We parked this guy up on a cart in the triage hallway to sleep it off. I just come on shift and he is s...

  16. What are your pet peeves?

My pet peeves: -How long is the wait? -How many people are in front of me? -I need a medicaid cab back home (after coming to ER via ambulance for toe pain X 1 year) -I can't breathe! (As they are yelling to the top of their lungs) -I have 10/10 pain ...

  19. Stooopid

I'm one of those triage nurses who hates everyone when I'm up there. I admit it LOL!
  20. ER nurses not calling report anymore...

Also, as a floor nurse, I started IV's when I was on the floor. Most times the patients would come up from the ED with one IV and if I needed a second IV I just got the order from the doctor and started it myself. As an ER nurse now, I don't get wh...

I am an ER nurse in a Level I trauma center which is also a teaching hospital. On any given day, there are no LESS than 30 people in the waiting room, and it takes an act of God to get us closed or put on diversion. Therefore, we are open to EVERYT...

I understand, and I have two tat's and a navel piercing myself. I've also had IV's placed as well. But to say you are allergic to needles while covered in tatttoos is bit of stretch.
