Lpn Nclex....highest # And Pass????
I passed my boards Aug. 17th of this year. Several of my classmates passed the test at 85 questions. So here is my story. I was nervous and I don't normally get nervous. The girl in the cubby next to me was bawling the whole time! Needless to say I was about to go insane. I felt like I didn't know anything. Knowing that my friend's tests shut off at 85, I took forever to answer 84. My hands were shaking as I pushed the enter button. Low and behold, the @#*% thing shut off! Long story short I was neurotic for two days until I got the results. I think my family was close to committing me. My advice would be to call your Dr. for a xanax (just kidding!) Don't stress over the number of questions it will only make the experience worse. Best of luck! :nurse:Katie

Question about abandonment
Just an update. I spoke with my DON this evening. I informed her of my concerns and she told me it had been handled. The agency has been called and that nurse is no longer allowed at our facility. I thanked her profusiously for standing behind me. I'm no shrinking violet and can stand up for myself but I felt like this needed to be handled by administration. I tried to do the right thing and not tell her to kiss my *%#@ (the nurse in question). It was better for me to leave that shift. It worked out to my favor. I can tell you it was a learning experience for me and will never let it happen again. Nor will I infringe on another's basic human rights like she did mine. I've always heard that old nurses eat their own, now I've experienced it. Thanks for everyone's input. I do appreciate it. :wink2:

Question about abandonment
I'll take the discipline as long as the situation is handled. I explained all to my supervisor and she was fully aware of the incident that began two weeks ago. I don't trust this nurse and I think her practice is unsafe. She is my relief every weekend. I will not tolerate being threatened or berated. I too have a management history but not in nursing. If one of my employees would have acted in such a way it would have been their last shift. The facility I work for is in such desperate need of staff, they will overlook behavior like this. Staff complaints do nothing. If my supervisor has to come work my shift then so be it. Maybe then problems like this will be addressed.

Question about abandonment
I posted this in first year nursing forum but I thought I should do it here too. I had a situation with an agency nurse. Two weeks ago I had to write her up on med errors. Since then she has been very vindictive. Today when I came on to my shift she started yelling at me and berating me for being a new nurse that thinks "she knows it all" which is not the case. Anyway, to say the least I was very angry. I told her I was not taking report from her and I called my supervisor to come in and relieve me. After the call this nurse continued the harrassment and threatened my license saying I was abandoning the patients and would lose my license. I clocked in but did not accept report. The nurse left. I waited until my supervisor got there. I then filled out a concern report, put it under the DON's door and left. Is this abandonment? What would you have done? Please help! I need some advice.

Patient Abandonment
I had a situation this morning with an agency nurse. Two weeks ago I had to write her up with 4 med errors. To make a long story short, she's been out to get me since. This morning she started yelling at me and berating me as a new nurse etc. "I know nothing!" Anyway, I told her I was calling my supervisor in to take my place and she could give report to her. I did not take report. She threatened my license saying I was abandoning my patients. I did not take the keys or get report. Is this "patient abandonment"? I did not leave until my supervisor was there. Tell me what you guys think. I am a new nurse and am scared as heck now. Does she have any basis to call state? Please help!:uhoh21:

LPN to RN online-HELP!
Hey everyone! I found out today that I won't be able to go to my second year. Really sucks, but anyway, I've been looking online because I can do that. (Can't afford not to work fulltime) Does anyone have experience with an online program? I need information and suggestions. Thanks!

Why did you take up nursing? What's your story?
as i read the posts tonight i'm just cracking up! granted i just worked a 0545 to 2200 shift, so lots of things are funny right now. to answer the question, i became a nurse to replace the "high paying restaurant gm's" salary that i had been earning for the past 15 years. i liked working with people (i'm not crazy). i had an instructor that said if you're in it for the money, you might as well quit right now. i was in it for the money. but what i found out is that i was doing it because i cared. i swore as a gn i would not work in ltc, so guess what? i do and i love it. my heart is in surgery and i'll be there one of these days but right now my residents need me. and yes, the money is good but knowing i made a difference to someone is better.

New Here; Not Feeling Right During Clinicals
I'm a new LPN. I had hard instructors and hard clinical nurses. Sometimes its sink or swim. You probably know more than you realize. Take a deep breath and just do it. Have confidence in yourself and your patients will have confidence in you. Good luck!
