  3. Touching blood without gloves

There is no denying that ripping the finger out of a glove to palpate woudn't be condoned by OSHA or the CDC (or your place of work). If you come in contact with blood/body fluids due to that ripped out finger, you went against the CDC and OSHA guide...

  5. does anyone get a set day off

Full time job trumps a per diem job any day. You may fight for these Mondays...right out of a job. I understand what you are saying. Another job vs. day care are NOT equal IMO for a need for a set day off.

Amen!! My mom said that if I was or wasn't going to college and was living at home I would need to clean, buy groceries, and assist with other areas around the house and pay rent if I wasn't going to college. responsibility needs to be learned. my gr...
  11. What's wrong with kids today? (and I'm not even that old)

Does it have anything to do with "only mommy can make it better" attitudes instead of some self-soothing like humming or having a nice blanky. Helicopter parenting where an 18 year old has no idea what or how to pack their own suitcase much less ma...
  12. Patients should ALL be swabbed tested for HIV

treat every patient like they have hepb, hepc, hiv, aids, etc.etc, use standard precautions. won't wash anyone without gloves or pick up a facial tissue withour wearing gloves. it is what it is. even with test they may not show positive until weeks ...
  13. How is there a shortage?

  14. I struggle with the pull between being a mom and wife and my job. Would love to stay home or work part time but the options are few with my position-not working direct patient care-working my dream job but it is 5 days/week-40 hours. Love the not wor...

Great idea BUT it will have to be in line with the whole hospitals mission and vision......been there when I tried to change the world....
  18. Night Shift 1 hr commute: tips to arrive home alive

IMO I wouldn't do it. just my opinion anyway.
  19. Believe me, if I was making half of what I am making now I would look for a different career path-with child care expenses, etc.,it wouldn't be worth it.
  20. Great job! have done this for every interview I have had over the past 19 years. shows class and I have been offered every single one of those jobs. Currently interview prospective nurses and the ones who write a personal letter/card put them ahead o...
  21. When working direct patient care I wore the full support hosiery. the knee high ones left a ridge at the back of my knew that wasn't comfortable. The full one hosiery lessened fatigue and swelling from being on my feet over 12 hour + shifts. there a...
  22. Dansko work shoes. Your opinion?

Not all Danskos squeak-I took back the ones that squeak (manufacturing flaw) and haven't heard a squeak yet with my new ones!
  23. You MUST be freaking kidding me!?

I would agree to the CNA agreement but continue to look for an LPN position elsewhere-it may take 3 months to find a position and by that time you will know if she will stick by her "you will be an LPN here after 3 months" good luck!
  24. The last year of school can be hellish. wouldn't rec. full time unless absolutely necessary (if you are unable to eat or have a roof over your head without the full time job) just my opinion.
  25. Sorry, helping is just not an option.

To the OP, you are a CNA. Why is there not an RN or Case Manager working on getting an OT-seems rather odd....
