There is always something, in theory, right? How is it in PA - is there some place that will eventually hire you, even a nursing home? No different here. If you are really worried about recession/job...

The situation is not different in AZ - according to what you wrote in your post about PA. Expect the worst - hope for the best. Things are pretty dire with the hospitals as far as reimbursements....
Employed nurses have some problems too. While I don't think we will see many layoffs, RNs are regularly getting their hours cut (i.e.: "getting called off" - being told not to come in for a shift)....
If money is no object - go with the program that admits you first. ASU is cheaper. I would not invest a lot of money in a nursing degree - the payout just is not
Look Sassie - I know you are worried. Read the Arizona Republic article from yesterday (front page). There is a tremendous slowdown in hospital admissions across Arizona. We are in the midst of the...
They may take a little while to get used to but Dansko's are flat out the best IMHO. Also - get really, really good socks. I got to Sports Authority and get real marathon runner socks - padded in the...

I would love to see an educator actually work with patients - most would run for the hills in fear if they actually had to implement half of their half-baked "initiatives." That especially held true...

I got both my new grad jobs by going directly to management. In fact, my most recent job they never hire New Grads (I was still technically a new grad because I only had 10 months experience) but they...
Try Banner Good Samaritan - good hospital but busy (I worked there 18 months). They have a tough time keeping new grads and they always seem to have jobs posted - just saw several the other day. Good...
Try Villa Montessori. Excellent school in the Arcadia/Biltmore area. Also - see if you can maybe get a waiver to one of the Arcadia-area elementary schools. Some are quite good. Why are you moving?...
I can't see how LPNs are immune to the slow-down. As the few hospitals that hire LPNs fill vacant slots, people will go to LTC. As LTC fills vacancies, the pool of available nurses will grow. Sassie...
It is not surprising that new grads are having trouble finding jobs. The easiest way for hospitals to immediately control costs is through hiring. So they are trying to do more with existing staff....
I agree with you on the total collapse. If Cooper is going to drone on about how flexible savings accounts will save healthcare (a common theme from politicians from that part of the country) I'll...

Very, very well put. Nothing wrong with being aggressive in self-marketing. In my case, a department which never hired new grads (ever) made an exception for me and created a new "New Grad" position....
Many are putting heavy money expansion plans on hold. Also trying to cutback on expenses by tightening costs, hiring freeze, postponing non-essential initiatives (i.e.: software upgrades and the...
Nursing school was a piece of cake compared to Rio. I took every pre-req through Rio. The science pre-reqs were lots and lots of work. There are no hints from instructors what to study - every topic...
