  1. That is awesome! but is that 90 minutes for two classes or 90 minutes per class? Yeah im getting a new job that is 12 hour shifts because right now im 5 days a week. hopefully it makes it easier for School.
  2. I heard about that immersion weekend. I live in NYC so I will be making it a road trip with my wife and daughter. My brother and my close friend want to apply together for SJF, would be nice to do the program together with friends to stay motivated. Im thinking about starting either may or sept 2025. I am getting a new job and want to transition to that first. If you would like, you can email me so we can stay connected. I'll update you if I get accepted into SJF. [email protected] Thank you for the info ?
  3. Thank you so much for responding. I applied to hunter and they mention min is 3.0 but I interviewed people that got in and lowest GPA was 3.7 even with no experience so I figured they really look at GPA first. IM going to apply to stony brook but I think they do similar as hunter. and I will be applying to st John fisher. Do you like the program. The counselor told me yesterday classes are synchronous. Is it crazy hard in the beginning?
  4. I plan to apply for their may start 2025 PMHNP program. Do you know if you need a crazy high GPA (mine is 3.5) to get into the program?
  5. Did you need a crazy high GPA to get into st John fisher? Im looking into there PMHNP program.
  6. I know a few people that have gotten in without any psych experience. Prior GPA seems to be the primary thing they look at to determine if you get into their program. Everything else is secondary.
  7. You will have to find your own preceptor. They said they can reach out to past preceptors for other students and try to help but you should really look for your own they said.
  8. Attached is example of schedules. One credit classes are online and the 3 credit course (most of them) are in person once or twice a week.
  9. CONGRATS! they said you can do it quicker but its unusual for anybody to do it faster than 3 years. this is for the PMHNP program. not the certificate add on. 3 semesters is impossible in any school. It is 48 credits for Hunter program and most programs are around the same amount of credits.
  10. Do you mind sharing your GPA and experience just to get an idea what the program needs? Thank you!
  11. Congrats! I got an email of rejection today. I'll be applying to stony.
  12. Yeah thats what professor said but he said in the end it is up to the dean. He has to wait on her to approve. she has final say. he said he already had a whole bunch of acceptances but it goes to her next.
  13. Not yet. But I think they will send response in March.

don't need to provide any back up. I'm just sharing my thoughts and opinions. If you want you can look up back up. I'm sorry you feel like im denigrating the NP profession. I honestly never knew my words had that much weight. Again sorry you feel that way. I guess thats the beauty of this forum. We can share our opinions freely even if we don't agree. Well I hope your words and actions continue to empower he NP profession. Please don't be like me and go on public discourse forums and "denigrate" the NP profession. You never know if your words will end the NP profession or if congress will look at your words and end nursing altogether.

I 100% agree with you. I don't like that people think NPs wanting to open their own practice or that they celebrate full authority is somehow a horrible thing for patients. I think people need to do what is legally allowed and do what's best for them. so if all of a sudden gov policies allow RNs to prescribe and diagnose, lets go. Colleges are taking advantage of this opportunity and so are NPs. good for them. MDs are pissed about this. I don't doubt them but thats the way the world is going. I want to emphasize I am not a policy maker and wouldn't want to make one. I am also not a leader in nursing. I am a RN looking into NP position. I don't care what other peoples opinions are. I do what I think is what is best for me and my family and my patients no matter what. I am a big believer of JUST BEING KIND. to everyone. I don't know what is best for the population or patients. taht isn't my job. I have not researched that at all. I have not looked at studies. All I am is a nurse that is looking for opportunities to make more money, more autonomy, better lifestyle, and that has nothing to do with me not caring for my patients.
