About Bobbi Tompkins

Bobbi Tompkins has 12 years experience as a ASN, CNA, RN and specializes in Charge RN: Hemodialysis & Surgery.

The roles a woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister, nurse, and teacher, define how I live my life. Each of these fulfilling titles are intertwined, each having a lasting impact on my ability to approach new experiences, destinations and challenges. Throughout life you imagine your future but the reality is that everything changes and it is the choices that we make that determine life and our future. In fact, nursing was not something I ever wanted or planned on doing following my high school graduation, at that time my career ambitions were to become an art teacher. But like I said before, life doesn't always go as planned. You have to learn to adjust as a result, I became a certified nurses aide(CNA), which ultimately became the reason I pursued a a career as a Registered Nurse. While balancing life as a mother, wife, employee and student, I earned my Associates in Applied Sciences in December 2011 from Morrisville State College. Throughout my career as a RN I have learned that, in order to provide exceptional quality of care, a nurse must have a willingness to approach every situation with an open mind, be empathetic, strive personal and professional growth, and share their knowledge with co-workers and patients. I believe that nursing is a discipline of knowledge comprised of textbook learning and life experiences. I have a passion to teach to expand the knowledge and thought process of patients, patient families, students and co-workers. I am excited about the prospect of teaching at a Collegiate level, giving me the opportunity to influence future generations of nursing students. Two things most nurses strive to be are a leader and an educator, I continue to grow and evolve in these roles every day. With this I see the need to expand and develop my education and I have come to know the details of the  As an adult I have matured as a learner and I have a desire to extend my knowledge with an enthusiasm to learn, develop new skills, and problem solve, all of which have motivated me to pursue a Master's degree in nursing. I am reliable, empathetic, honest, and I possess excellent study habits. My strong desire to contribute and influence the future of healthcare continues to drive me toward my lifelong goal of becoming a teacher. I believe that the combination of my life experiences, educational and employment background have instilled in me the qualities and interpersonal skills required to be successful in all my future endeavors. "The capacity to learn is a gift, the ability to learn is a skill, the willingness to learn is a choice." - Brian Herbert
