So I'm really interested in working in Children's Palliative Care... but I'm unsure whether to pursue a career in a children's hospice or as a community children's nurse. I have some experience working in PICU and am currently working as a children's respite nurse for children with complex healthcare needs. I think hospices look like wonderful places to work but I am worried I might loose some clinical skills. Does anyone know what kind of clinical skills they use in a children's hospice? If I worked as a community children's nurse I'd still be doing acute things like IV medications/dressing changes but also have the opportunity to do some end of life care but it probably won't be as often as in a children's hospice. if anyone has any experience of working in a children's hospice or as a children's community nurse I'd love to hear about your experiences!
